You know, I wonder if it's too much to have a crapload of force powers and actually use them to be very, very evil or very, very good. Jedi Academy got pretty close, but I'm talking massive force powers like throwing speeders against cliffsides and the aforementioned Star Destroyers out of the air. I'd even love to have the levitation thing. I want my enemies to piss themselves when they see me. Is that really too much to ask from a game that can be coded to do just about anything? J.
Did you watch the X-Play review? The guy was right in his face, and the stormtrooper wouldn't move! Wasn't shooting or anything!
Yeah, but I want to be in an Arby's, and when they get my order wrong, I want to get pissed and use my force powers to throw the cashier backward into the fryer, and turn around and blast a huge hole in the roof with force lightning, grab my super sized root beer and levitate the hell out of dodge! J.
Like I said in the other thread about developing your own game. I would want something like Jedi Academy combined with GTA and Postal 2, but with more interactive force abilities. J.
Well, no offense to Bailey (the level design and art direction are top notch, hands down), but the gameplay gets a little repetative, there are some sequences that just aren't fun. The mechanics of, well, the Force seem a little off-kilter - whenever I played, I felt like I was flailing around, and it didn't just 'click' for me. Also, quick time events. Need I say more?
I want to get this. I just bought a bicycle though. I feel like there is a force compelling me to buy it though...
That's the problem with StarWars, games, movies, etc. No matter how hard they suck ass some people just won't listen and go shell out their money for these pieces of shit. Lucas and company get the cash in their pocket and get inspired to put out more half baked projects and the fan boys again don't listen and run out and buy anything with a StarWars label. And the wheel just keeps turning and turning. In other words, Don't buy this game !
what are the ratings like for the wii version? cuz that's the console I'll most likely be getting soon.
Picked this up yesterday and like it so far, it might not win any Game of the Year but it isn't as bad as X-Play tried to make it out to be.
What exactly is different about the version you worked on, Bailey? You did the Wii/PSP version or something, right? I assume the Wii version incorporates the Wiimote, but is that all?
PSP/PS2/Wii share the same single player campaign. It is the same story and general level structure (ie going from Tie Yard to Raxus Prime etc...) as the PS3/360 versions, but the levels themselves are completely different. PSP/PS2/Wii have a couple of levels that aren't in the 360/PS3 version of the game. PSP has these exclusive features: -4 Player Multiplayer with different playmodes such as Force Out, where you must knock your opponent out of the ring, and Rule The Galaxy, which is a simple 4 player brawl to the death. -Force Duel Mode, where you engage in fights against various characters from the Star Wars universe. These are stand alone stages, but play similar to boss battles in the single player campaign. -Historical Missions. This mode allows players to re-enact iconic fights from the Star Wars movies, with the over the top force powers that are in the game. So it's not strictly sticking to canon, more a chance to see what they might have been like if the force was always this over the top. Features fights like the Luke vs Vader fight in the carbonite chamber of Cloud City. -Order 66. You play as a Jedi, and have to fend off rounds of enemies sent to eliminate you. Wii has these exclusive features: -2 player duel mode. This is a totally seperate mode from the multiplayer in the PSP version. On the Wii two players fight each other in various arenas. Similar to Powerstone, or Soul Calibur if there was more focus on force powers and less on direct combat. -Some slightly different moves to take advantage of the Wii Motion controls. The controls on the Wii version have actually been getting a very good response. It's not 1:1 (simply not possible with the standard Wiimote for this type of game) but it's not just Zelda style waggling either, with the controls recognizing saber swipes in five different directions (left->right, right->left, up->down, down->up, stab) Force powers are mapped onto the nunchuck, so to do a force push you just need to push your own hand forwards.
I agree. There have been some parts that are a bit frustrating, but nothing uncommon to the genre. I would say that the game has great parts and the rest falls into the standard hack and slash genre. A good effort and a solid 8 IMO.
Because I like Bailey and want him to continue eating (as I'm sure he has become fond of it), I will go rent Force Unleashed for my PSP. If I like it, I might buy it. J.
I just beat it the other day already. It was fun! I don't think it was groundbreaking, but I had a good time and a lot of the scenery was stunning. Only thing I didn't care for too much was the extremely tedious "Star Destroyer grapple". Oh, some of the platform jumping was a pain in the balls too, but I got by it ok. I just wish that a Jedi was a little more "fleet footed". I hated jumping onto a platform only to just roll right off the opposite edge.
for anyone who wants to know what happens, but can't/doesn't want to/is too busy to play the game i found all the cutscenes on youtube that pretty much explains the basics of the story line. i'll post the address for the first part (there are like 6) and you can selected the others on the related videos tab. Part 1 p.s. if you haven't guess, watching every cutscene from the game is an EXTREME SPOILER if you ever plan on playing the game
I am getting a lot of game freezups on my 360. I have the new chipset. :| Other than that, I like the storyline so far, but unfortunately I can't play much.
I heard there was a way to fix the horrible auto aim controls, and that it helps fix a bunch of the game. The guy said the boss battles are still retarded and feel "Cheap"
What I find to be cheap is how many times I've been knocked into a fucking bottomless chasm on the Trash Planet. Seriously, who thought that would be fun?
^ Mario? I dunno, I've seen a commercial for this game a couple of times and the graphics weren't consistently very impressive. Chunky movement. Maybe the technology is still largely at that point in development, but . . .
Power Stone was AWESOME. One of the many reasons I loved my Dreamcast. I got so good at that game that my friends and cousins all got too upset to play it anymore. I even let them pick which character they wanted to me to use. My previous avatar was the Power Stone character 'Galuda':
I played some power stone when my friend's brother brought over his dreamcast. I liked it! It was like, 3Dish, right?
The only time you end up in a pit in Mario is if you put your dumbass self there. In this game, an enemy will hit you, and you'll be knocked back...off the cliff. You'll be spinning around, connect, hit the enemy, and...fall off the cliff. You'll be jumping to a place you swear you can see ground - nope, deceptive texture, you're going off the cliff.
