I started a thread a while ago about Joe Biden and his inability to combat the lies and misinformation that still permeate America politics.

But is there a thread about how badly the Democratic Party is fucking everything up?

Because there needs to be, especially after this week's elections.

Meh. I saw it suggested elsewhere that the Dems should do everything they can to punish Manchin and Sinema like taking away their committee assignments and refusing to fund their reelection campaigns, but all I see that accomplishing is pushing them to formally switch sides to the Republicans and take control of the Senate with them.

Adding several new states to reduce the power of the sparsely populated middle America states that don't really deserve the designation would help in the long term, but it won't fix anything today.

I don't know what to do about the Republicans excelling at controlling the narrative and whipping flyover state voters into a frenzy over made up bullshit, but Facebook disappearing tomorrow wouldn't necessarily fix it. There's an educational deficit or something there that makes too many Americans susceptible to the most basic sort of propaganda, I don't know how that can be fixed overnight. :clyde:

Whatever else one might say about the American right, they've worked for decades (if not centuries) rigging the system so that that one day they'd be able to rule indefinitely without the consent of the governed or any risk of accountability, and they're getting extremely close to getting everything exactly in position.

If nothing else, you can't say they haven't "earned" their victory. :clyde:

Democrats are no more interested in fixing the problems in America than Republicans. This has been evident for at least 20 years. I do not understand why suddenly everyone is bitching about Biden for doing exactly what he said he would do - which is absolutely nothing to fix the problems in America.

Isn't this another classic example of how the left want to use government better, and the right want to dismantle government? It's hard to play the game when one player keeps kicking over the board.

That's not to take any blame away from Democrats, by the way.

The VA Democratic Party thought that was a good idea. Regardless of ideology or strategy, their tactics are so incompetent that it's no wonder they lost.

It was a truly awful campaign by McAuliffe. And a test bed for running campaigns with absolutely no policy positions but on greivance and culture wars. It was a very smart campaign by Youngkin, who allowed himself to be a blank slate so anyone could project their aspirations on him.

But the guy's a financier and a Harvard MBA, so my guess is the right wing is going to be a bit disappointed. Their lives won't get any better, and and I bet he really doesn't care that much about the culture wars. Doesn't impact him in the slightest.

Interesting to note that the GOP ticket was MORE diverse than the Dems. The Lt Gov is the first female POC to ever hold statewide office in VA. The AG is 2nd generation Cuban American.

But the progressive commentary that if you pass their agenda then you'll win also falls flat here. They did in VA, pretty much down the line. Legalized marijuana, voting rights, threw away the gerrymander, got rid of no knock warrants, caps on insulin pricing, better worker protections, better medical billing protections, gave control over confederate monuments to the locals so they could be taken down. Expanded medicare, phased in an increase in the minimum wage. Invested in clean energy and the largest windfarm in the US.

And their base didn't show up to vote. Under 25 dropped in half.

The lost on CRT and transgender rights. And a candidate that was dumb enough to admit he didn't want parents to have a say what happens in their schools.

Also of note - this is the 9th time in 10 elections where Virginia put in someone opposite of the President's party into the gubernatorial seat.

And that the Dems still hold the state Senate, so they won't be able to get rid of many if any of those reforms until 2023 at the earliest.

That and transgender people in the bathroom, even though by all accounts that's not actually what happened. But why let reality and human rights intefere with a good scare. After all, CRT isn't in the schools either.

Youngkin won white women voters without any college by 50 points, 75-25%. That was the difference.

Flat out lie. I've heard plenty of teachers saying it is and the Democrats continue to lie about it. Oh and the girl was assaulted and the Loudon county school board let the boy come back to school. Not a transgender issue, but still.

A lot of modern lefties are massive ingrates with no historical perspective. No matter what a left-leaning or centrist politician manages to deliver, it'll never be enough to stop those idiots from insisting they're indistinguishable from their right-wing competitor, no matter how flimsy that argument is. :async:

Obamacare passed because it isn't an actual UHC. If Democrats truly wanted to help Amaris, it would have been a UHC. We go back to - offer a person dying of thirst, they will take a drop of water, but it certainly does nothing to help the situation.

It was already explained to you in great detail that CRT is a legal concept that's only taught at the university level, and receipts were provided showing that the current hysteria surrounded CRT was created by a right-wing troll knowing spreading misinformation in bad faith, and yet you persist.

Are you really that committed to repeating partisan lies, or did you recently get kicked in the head by a horse? :chris:

Got a source for those 'lot of teachers?' There was one document - out of hundreds - on the VA DoE that talked about using it as a resource. That's different than saying it's the official curriculum.

And the reason that said boy came back was Title IX, put in place by the GOP under Trump. You can't expel students for sexual assault until they've been convicted. The right was losing it's mind over MeToo and decided to limit schools responses on sexual assault to 'protect the boys.' You guys break shit then complain that the Dems don't fix it quickly enough.

They made him go to another school and wear a leg monitor. Literally all they could have done.

Yes, the Dems can't always get things done - neither can the GOP. Trump couldn't even get ACA repealed, let alone put something else in, his wall died. The system is set up to make those changes hard.

But those fuckers come back and vote, every single time.

    If you don't... Enjoy Gilead.

I literally have friends and family saying it is indeed being taught in K-12 schools. We know that the Lincoln Project sent people with tiki torches to one of Youngkin's rallies so I don't trust your "source" saying the hysteria was created by a right wing troll. The evidence may be anecdotal, but it's stacking up quite a bit.
