Atheists are just as in need of bitchslapping IRL as they are on the internet. There is no qualitative difference between an atheist and Fred Phelps' people, or your average Islamic Terrorist group.

Fred Phelps would burn your co-religionists at the stake in a heartbeat. An atheist would just pat you on the head and say "There, there. Shouldn't you be out sacrificing a virgin or something?"

So far, it's the atheists who're way out in front with the biggest body count in the "mass murder of human beings" scoreboard, so fuck off.

I have no problem with anyone, atheist or proponent of any religion, holding to, explaining, or defending his beliefs. Where I have a problem is when any of them start pretending they are superior because of those beliefs. Be it radical Muslims ("We will kill the infidels!"), bigoted, ultra-fundamentalist Christians ("We are better than the faggots, who all deserve to burn in hell!") or obnoxiously arrogent atheists ("All religious people are deluded and of inferior intelligence"!) they all show, by their very intolerance of those who hold to other opinions, that they are not the ones we should be looking up to.

But just as those who condemn all religion of the basis of religion's radicals, so condemning all atheists and/or agnostics on the basis of the radicals among them is pure nonsense. One of the nicest and brightest posters on this board is an agnostic, and some of the most intelligent posters are actually convinced atheists. I of course disagree with them, but that in no way implies that they are morally or intellectually inferior to me or to anyone else.

Maybe in terms of pure numbers, but in a percentage respective to the populations existing at the time, religion wins every time.

Outside of TKO and The Lurker, none of the atheists I've encountered were anything but scum sucking vermin.

Also, people CHOOSE who speaks at the funeral. They arent issued pastors to speak at funerals.

On an individual basis, yeah, it was atheists that killed the most people...

But throughout history...I would doubt the truth in that. Atheists have had much less open air time in history to kill quite as many as the religious political nutbars.
