How would you know? Most atheists don't go around announcing themselves.

I always get a chuckle out of people taking a side on the issue; theist or not, I doubt many people have an actual understanding of the various approaches it takes to understand God (if such a thing is possible).

I didn't take a side. I'm merely pointing out that the majority of the examples of atheists I've encountred are scum sucking vermin. I can say the same for Fred Phelps' supporter, islamists, Southern Baptists, Scientologists, politicians, and many, many other groups.

Face it, there's a lot of scum sucking vermin out there.

Oh I've ranted about "internet atheists" for a long time, they are some of the most obnoxious people in the world. They constantly mock and degrade believers and ride upon their imagined intellectual high horse.

    Do your own epistemological homework.

I'm not arguing one way or the other, I'm merely stating that most people don't actually approach this subject with any serious thought, they merely question their own worldview and are content with that. I refuse to abandon reason over empiricism, much less mysticism over reason.

    :wtf:

Maybe Southern Baptists are weird, but they told me a thousand times over that God is so complex that if we were to look at a tiny part of his "body," our brains would be so confused that they'd explode.

    I'm not kidding.

Well, considering how many huamns have existed... and how badly we have done so far... id say the human race says it.
We cant even take care of our own rubbish or stop killing each other.
Doesnt sound like a particularly enlightened species to me, powerful intelligence mixed with stupid animal behaviour at best.
Certainly not something capable of comprehending all knowledge in the universe, not even something that knows all knowledge in the universe

Simple. You've closed yourself off to anything but your own worldview. You don't acknowledge the possibilities, choosing instead to cut yourself off from them.

Im open to them, as long as they seem likely and plausible. Im happy for your god to exist, as long as he doesn't play games and is open with us.
Are you open to atheism, or buddhism, or sikhism or taoism?

Why would I close my mind and be "open" to atheism when exactly the opposite has been proven to me? Elements of Buddhism, Sikhism, and Taoism are already part of my spiritual path, so yes, I acknowledge their validity.

You have "proof" of the existence of spiritual realms and supernatural forces? Please, do tell.... :bailey:

You show very little evidence of this.
It seems like the important points of all the major religions are a bit ... lost on you

The evidence in question is strictly subjective and not subject to being shared. If it's that important to you to experience the evidence in order to agree with it, the experimental procedure in your case is simple. Take your pistol, load it, put it to your head, and pull the trigger. You'll have your necessary experience shortly.
Of course, from your viewpoint, there's some significant downsides to the experiment, but hey, it's important that you know, right?

You think you have knowledge of, and can experience the afterlife without acualy going to it?
Hhmmm, there are many ways to diagnose or categorise such experiences, not all of them are 'dude actualy speaks to god'......
Some of them might be though... but i (and im sure you) will agree it's unlikely to be all of them :)
