No one is saying there is a right simply to play in any organized sport of one's choosing regardless of qualifications, but there is certainly a right to equal access/opportunity at the college level and below. If someone qualifies for a sports team, why should they be denied the opportunity?

Sports is inherently about players having certain advantages and weaknesses compared to other players. That's part of what makes it interesting to watch and compete in. A basketball player who is 7-feet tall has a distinct advantage over someone who is only 5-feet tall. Should the 7-foot tall player be turned away from basketball so that the 5-foot tall player can play instead?

And what about those who went through puberty as a female wanting to play in men's athletics?

They are certainly different positions, but they both fall towards the authoritarian end of the spectrum when it comes to this issue. Those conservative areas didn't suddenly want to ban transgender people from existing overnight, there were several incremental steps along the way.

The point is we have sexually segregated sports at higher levels to ensure fair competititon.

So if it violates fair competition, the individuals in question don't qualify. That's literally why we have different sex classes.

Transitioning is an artificial medical process. It's not a natural state. So yes, when we alter people's bodies with science we should make sure that we maintain the competitive distinction.

Absolutely false. I don't support removing transgender athletes entirely. What's more, I've stated that I believe a technical solution is feasible in the not too distant future that would remove the barrier completely, and I've stated that many times now.

Weaknesses and advantages within sexual norms. We ban performance enhancing drugs in virtually all sports, and that includes steroids which are literally synthetic testosterone.

If you aren't on hormone therapy you aren't qualified at all as you are no different in your biology. Transitioning itself is a human intervention in biology and an artificial process. It by definition is not a variance within sexual norms.

Men have physical advantages over women in size, speed, strength, and stamina. It's caused primarily by the testosterone produced in the male body. This isn't opinion, it's scientific fact.

Going through puberty as a female does not grant any advantage in competition with men. Several studies now have shown that going through puberty as male gives considerable advantage over competing with women.

Ah, OK. So by that tract simply having men's and women's sports is authoritarian.

Why don't the women want to end that practice then? Because they value sport and their chance to compete. If we are truly democratic the vast majority of women would lose their ability to compete over night.

I keep hearing how this is a step toward putting trans people in the ovens. I have yet to see anyone actually show that link.

And to ban the medical treatments and medications that doctors have prescribed for them.

And ban discussion of their existence in schools.

And compel teachers to report any indicators of transgenderism to the children's parents.

And to legalize torture conversion therapy to "fix" them.

Even if it is private what the fuck is wrong with you that you would start accusing a little girl of being a boy at a kids sport event because they did not look girly enough for you? If one of my grandparents ever said that at an event I was at I would have made sure my parents never brought them again. You would not have to have the school ban them because they would have never gotten invited again.
