Trump and North Korea: the games begin!

So NK has announced it will give up nuclear testing. Anyone informed on the subject knows this means they feel confident they have workable nukes (their current yield is about 2-3x more than the Hiroshima bomb which is more than enough to achieve their "don't fuck with us" aims) and intend instead to focus on Command & Control systems.

FYI - NK most definitely has NOT agreed to denuclearize, which makes you wonder if he's even listening to the reports.

He's also still very pleased that NK has chosen to sit down and talk to him. Despite the fact that they've wanted bilateral talks for years and the US has balked because 1) it lends NK what they want, which is the appearance of legitimacy and 2) it pisses off the South Koreans AND the Chinese not having a seat at the table.

And this makes sense because Kimmy is so much more reliable than Iran.

Trump fails to mention this North Korean test site was damaged by earthquakes last year following tests (killing dozens of NK technicians) and was likely unusable. Question is, will Kim use talks to secure funding, buy time to rebuild another test site.

If Trump does manage to pull off a deal with North Korea that gets them to give up their nukes, it'll be interesting to see how many people change their tune about the Nobel Peace Prize (as Trump would no doubt share one with Lil' Kim and Moon Jae-in).

I hope Trump can pull this off. Let him have one redeeming note for his otherwise abysmal administration.

I don't think this move by North Korea is going to come to anything, but I really fucking hope it does.

Absolute best case scenario is over the next few years it becomes globally known that after taking leadership of NK, Kim Jong Un had to get rid of all those who were committed to Juche before he could safely open dialogues and openness with the rest of the world. In 30 years he is revered for bringing peace to the Korean peninsula.

What's actually happened: North Korea has working nukes that are good enough to be a deterrent against a first strike against them. With this being the case they can open up into negotiations with SK and later other countries knowing that they are safe from military attacks.

when Kim stepped up & over the curb into north Korea it would have been funny if he fell and fucked himself up! Anyway great for the world if Kim gives up nukes.
But IMO it really doesn't mean shit if the citizens of NK are still starved & oppressed on a daily basis.
