You know that and I know that, but it might be too complicated for her. ;)

Except for nominating the AG, and being the leader of the executive branch which is the branch of law enforcement.

Anyone want to explain to the wordsmith how completely off she is?

Yes, but the FBI would be one of the main groups that investigates things like racism in police departments in regards to their actions and records. It is true there are state level things like internal affairs, but often the federal government is considered a neutral investigative agency when the police have committed crimes that need to be addressed.

For a person like @garamet who likes to have things remain on the corrupt and problematic end, is that over the years the federal administrations have avoided investigations of racism due to the influence of their administration. One of the big probl;ems of Mr. Biden and his running mate is that they have both been on the side of the racism and covering for police problems in how they enforce the laws and how they harm certain suspects. Both Joe and kamala are on the shit side of reigning in the police. For some reason garamet wants to ignore that. It is a similarity she shares with oldfella.

Most of the time federal investigations of police wrongdoing is not of individual crimes, but pattern and practice investigations of police departments that ultimately seek to have the cities agree to reform measures that will be overseen by a federal judge. The Trump administration, I believe, stopped doing those types of investigations altogether. I assume that the Biden administration will resume doing those and take other steps.

Criminal prosecutions of police officers connected to individual shootings at the federal level. You can take your pick of any combination of the following for the explanation:
    1. Murder and other crimes are first state law offenses and so federal officials don't often get involved.
    2. There are relatively few police shootings/killings that are likely to result in guilty verdicts because the law and juries up till now have been willing to give police officers the benefit of the doubt, so the feds don't bring these cases.
    3. The investigations that the feds do in individual cases tend to show that the officers were justified in their actions.
    4. The federal prosecutors are just as political as local prosecutors and don't want to alienate people by bringing cases against cops.

Congratulations - you've passed Civics 101. Now you can explain how this affects the laws in individual states.

If you mean Trump Derangement Syndrome, I don't know how any of this has to do with him. If you mean Tererun Derangement Syndrome, I don't see how stating things that we apparently agree on would be a sign of that.

Anyway, now that we agree on that much, let's see if we can agree on some more:

Traditionally, the Department of Justice is to act as independently as possible from the administration it is in. So even if Biden's most fervent wish was that every officer involved in a killing were prosecuted federally, it would be improper for him to micromanage Justice to make that a reality.

    Game, set, match. Thank you!

You'll have to forgive @Tererun. Jo Jorgensen's boot polish has left her with a nasty aftertaste.

She also believes a word I chose to describe myself is an insult. Whattaya gonna do?

Damn, even Dayton had more decency than the average MAGA!

At least back then, I'm sure he'd drop to his knees to take in Donny's Puffy Cheeto now that his wet dream of an anti-abortion SCOTUS has come to pass.

I just read this page for the first time and am going to go back a bit and catch up.

The state I live in has the same racial institutional bias that every other state does but we only have 600,000 people, so the standard deviation is quite eye opening. We have 1.4% black population which make up 10% of the prison population. We have systemic oppression by the cops against people of color in our small but vibrant cities. We have one of the LOWEST incarceration rates in the country, but have the HIGHEST black incarceration rate in the country.

    Institutional racism at its finest.

You know, if we look at how joe has helped create the drug war, tough on black crime laws, and helped to promote the high school to prison pipeline through his representation in government we might conclude that over the decades he has destroyed more black lives and killed more than trump with his policies. Let us just be clear Trump did not create things like white nationalism. Who has dojne more damage over time? Those who openly support white nationalism, or those who have encouraged tough on crime legislation and policies in our government that have excused police brutality and police working with white nationalist organizations and participating in their ranks?

I guess that is all OK with you as long as the guy pretends he never did it while never admitting to his faults in the matter or evolving from them. It is nice to have feels that uncle joe is not a huge part of the american problem, but they are about as factual as anything trump people have. Feel free to stop watching and pretend things are good under biden, but do not blame me when he makes things worse for the black community over the next 4-8 years.

You all can give me the face palm all you want but my dislike for people like Biden and what he has done does not go away because there is someone worse in office.. I want a president who will address the problems of racism and sexism that plague this country and joe biden is not that person. He was the fucking dog whistle that said whity is still here for our first black president. That was the optic they put creepy joe in there for.

I have black people in my life that I care about. I also have hispanic people in my life that I care about. During his time in office Joe has pushed harmful things like the drug war, tough on crime persecution, and predatory loan practices by the banks. That is who he has been. So I am worried for the people I care about and even the people I do not know because I do not want things to continue as they have been since the creation of this country. I want them to get better. It hurts me to see black and brown lives destroyed because they actually matter to me and I can sympathize with them even if I do not know them. Biden has been a part of the destruction of their lives and families due to institutionalized racism.

We all fight our battles from our positions. I am in the middle of white bread land. I have a voice to white people and I am going to say these ideas of racism, sexism, and even prejudice against foreigners and the LGBT community are wrong. No, I will not reach out to the prejudiced and give them comfort anymore. If you bring that prejudiced bullshit around I am going to stamp the fuck out of it. Other people make their choices based on their positions and I appreciate that.

Why not? You can type all the long paragraphs filled with polysyllabics you want, and it won't phase me.

Your sesquipedalian loquaciousness will avail you nought in the face of Dicky's brutal undercutting of your existential arguments with glove puppetry.

And don't even think about bringing that epistemological excrement in here, or "phase" will involve rapid nadion beam excitation.
