get a job with insurance/benefits, maybe it would?

the goal/point was that subsidizing my income after the pandemic shut down the three jobs I was working boosted me enough to break into better employment while keeping local businesses afloat.

worked out for thousands of other low to middle earners as well.

I'll also repeat the rather salient point that neither you nor I make enough - and therefore don't pay enough into the public purse - for a UBI to make any difference on a paycheque.

Now, we could go on about reduced costs to other public services and infrastructures that have been proven to have their costs reduced by a less impoverished society, but it's already all in the thread. We've long since done the homework for you.

I have both. I get to pay my bills and everyone else's.

And you would like me to assume that outcome for everyone. Not gonna happen.

Collective statistics are a great way to camouflage individuals getting shafted.

Once again, why ask for evidence of a program effectiveness, when you really don't care and oppose it on general principle?

At issue is what you accept as "effective. " I'm not so eager to sacrifice individuals to collective expedience as you people.

no, you really aren't paying more than you're getting back.

the challenge was to show an example, not a collective statistic on improvement

each of those things can and has been measured on its own, from crime to hospital visits to use of social assistance.

Unless they're trans, an open feminist, a black woman, use pronouns you don't like, wear clothes you don't like, have hairdos you don't like, have body types you don't like, have voice pitches you don't like, etc, etc, etc, etc, (infinity symbol).

    We get that.

So I put it to you that there is literally no result from this or any other social program that could possibly be good enough for you to support it. If I'm wrong, then please outline what in theory would be the kind of answer to your question that you'd receive positively.

Nope. Dishonestly conflating "sacrifice" with "refusal to affirm or validate" gains you nothing.

"Refusal to affirm or validate" being a perfume scented form of crossing your arms and staring off into space while a goon does the baton hitting for you.
Yeah, you're technically passive. Technically. Congrats. Ghandi would be proud. Oh, wait, no.

Again, we get that. So again, why ask the question as to the outcome of the program, only to then say that you don't care?

Nope. Nobody gets to initiate violence. Not even if they've been "deadnamed." Violence is a separate category from offending you.

what flowery, selective portrayal? that people with enough money have a better quality of life and/or that it's repeatedly been demonstrated that the net effect of reducing poverty saves money in the mid-long term? 'cause if you'd bother to learn anything by reading, you'd find out that I'm right.

Think about it... remember back when I was as Malthusian as you? Why do you think I changed my stances? Put simply, cost and long term effectiveness.

and you misspelled "asshole", fuckin' wannabe edgelord. I'm not sure what you think you get/score out of using a handicap as a slur, but hey, if that's your idea of "freedom"...

    8. In General, Don't Be A Complete Asshole.
At WordForge, we value free expression; more so than most other sites. However, the aim here is to have open debates, and fun. The aim is not to figure out a way to break the site or its community beyond repair. Free speech is part of a triad of what we value, and depends on its other two parts: including individual members, and overall community. If your use of free speech interferes with either of the other parts, there will be consequences, including but not limited to anything from warnings to temporary or even permanent bans. We trust our staff to make that call. If you feel that you do not know how to avoid being a complete asshole without a set of detailed instructions, this might not be the right site for you.

Now, if someone can show me a post in the last decade where he provided evidence to the contrary rather than abuse, I'll happily retract the suggestion.

I mean, Feddy may be full of shit, but at least he backs it up with nonsensical sources...
