Can you tell pregnancy from a blood test? I thought pregnancy was done via urine or somesuch.

I just looked up the CDC location (for example). Yeah, that's not too bad an area. If the CDC was down near the airport I would launch the bullshit flag. :santa_shocked:

If Ricks wife is pregnant by Ricks mate then I suppose it is a great big fuck you to the zombie theme and welcome to the soap opera.

If you're complaining about the "soap opera" you've not read the comic books then.

Not to worry however things will be taken of unless they really deviate from the comic book.

You'd better get used to it. The show is not about the Zombies or even survival. It's about the characters and plenty of the petty things that you would classify as "soap opera" are there.

I'd have thought this guy would make the perfect Zombie, considering he died 20 years ago and hasn't realized it yet...

Like I said earlier, if it goes to soap opera direction this show will be dead to me. You can have good story lines and interesting characters with out resorting to such cheap gimmicks.

That's the reason why I quit the comics. There was a lot more action in the early books before things got all "touchy feely".

The Walking Dead is not a show about Zombies.

It's a show about people.

How is it a cheap gimmick? "Comfort" adultery and unplanned pregnancies are common side-effects of traumatic crisis situations.

"The Mom and the kid both get killed later anyway.........in bed!"

With a couple of folks gone already, they can't kill too many off or the show will be one character talking to himself like Tom Hanks in Cast Away.

That's how it'd be if it were my zombie survival story. Groups like that are more trouble than they're worth.

To date the TV show isn't following the comic faithfully. Which leaves ample room for speculation and for growth beyond the sappiness of the comics.

Not only that what are we supposed to do? Have nothing but straight Zombie fighting week after week?

BSG was certainly like a "soap opera" yet you all watched it.

    YES, goddamn it!

There's plenty of room for creativity within that restriction.

The "soap opera" elements were the absolute worst parts of BSG. Removing them entirely wouldn't have compromised the story one miniscule bit. I watched them the first time through for completeness, but if I ever run through that show again I'll be skipping the soap opera sideshow bullshit.

I watched BSG because my husband watched it, I wasn't a big fan because it was too .... bleak. But the worst parts of were the soap opera drama.

    To UA,

Well you're going to be highly disappointed. There are whole comic books issues back to back to back that have "zip" to do with Zombies (though they are always present) but instead focus on the characters and their soap opera stuff.

And this is no different than any other zombie apocalypse tale, really, hence the dead rising out of graveyards, etc.

As they've already shown they aren't locked into the comic's story line.

    Nope.

Zombie's don't raise out of graveyards because their brains are too far gone. If a Zombie does raise out of a grave then it supernatural. (damn that sounds silly )

I never expected them to be but they are following the general outline and if she is pregnant there is going to be plenty of soap opera since we know it can't be Rick's.

What made BSG good was that you cared what happened to the characters because you saw them in their day to day lives. This story would absolutely suck if it was just one big zombie fight. You have to tell a story about survival under extreme circumstances and comfort sex would be a part of that, hell, it's necessary for procreation if there is to be any hope of saving the human race.

The one thing holding back The Walking Dead right now is that I (and a number of others on this board according to their own posts) do not care at all what happens to anyone on the show. It's poor writing combined with worse acting at this point. I'd like to see them correct this in season 2.

They'd better not pull a BSG and make us wait 15 months for the next season. Those of us who barely care now are sure as hell not going to care after that long of a break.
