I have to buy a Glock 22C now. :garamet:

When 1911's were approved, I sold every Glock I owned except for a highly customized Glock 35. But, the 1911's are in danger of being rescinded. We're trying to get CALEA accreditation. CALEA doesn't come out and say it, but the Chief's reading and understanding of the process is that everyone and every thing has to be uniform and identical. All the gear in the car has to be packed and stowed identically, everyone has to wear everything on their belts in the same place and in the same manner.

It's a bunch of bullshit that isn't spelled out in the regs but is due solely to the reader's interpretation and our Chief is fucking us. So, I can either be issued a beat up and junky 2nd Gen Glock 22 from the agency's inventory or I can buy my own 4th Gen Glock 22 or 3rd Gen Glock 22C (I wish they'd come out with the 4th Gen C models).

There is no need to disassemble them past basic field stripping. Frontline is a heretic!

Why the C and not just a regular 3rd Gen Glock 22? Personal choice?

I was going to get a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range, but the guy at the store said they didn't have any.

    Probably. :garamet:

Yeah. Having shot both extensively, I'll take the reduced recoil and faster reacquisition time over the minuscule drop in velocity. I even went so far that I bought a ported barrel for my 35 from Lone Wolf.

    I'm stuck where I work.

They want everyone to carry 9mm Glock 17/19 (or the 17c/19c). I'm grandfathered in on my Glock 22 but it's on my particular gun by serial number. If I want to change to a 4th Generation I've got to go to 9mm.

Well, I decided to quit thinking about it and actually do it. Today I ordered a Les Baer UTC with no front cocking serrations. It will ship this week.

I've decided to pick up a Romanian AK-47. Got to find out the prices around here. I seen ones on the internet for about $400 new.

Well it's not that version of the AK-47 but you don't see any funny names like AR-47 to use.

Technically, the Romanian nomenclature for that rifle is WASR-10. ;)

I bought one a couple of years ago to add to my AK collection. :D

Cleaner look. They serve no purpose for me, so going for the aesthetic preference was a guilt free decision. I know some people use them for press checks, but I don't find it necessary.

Guess what I picked up today?

I wish I had a good camera and the skills to match. I can't do this pistol justice.

    First Impressions:

    - Aesthetically, this is a beautiful gun and exactly what I wanted
    - The lock up is extremely tight, but I can still rack the slide without turning red in the face. Once again, exactly what I wanted.
-The trigger is good, but not eye popping. Fairly crisp and I'd guess it breaks between 4 and 4.5 lbs. Probably closer to 4.5.
-I can get a much higher grip on the Baer than I can on my Kimber. It's not even close.
-I haven't decided if I like the thin grips yet, but they sure do look nice.
-I have 500 rounds of ammo coming in and I plan on shooting every single one of them this weekend.

As soon as I get ahead of the financial game I shall purchase a Ruger Blackhawk (yes, single action!) in .45 long.

It pushes a seriously heavy bullet with acceptable recoil. The trigger is extremely light, and accuracy is great.

It will take some practice to shoot rapidly, but I can time pulling back the hammer with the gun settling from the recoil after some practice.

How can you NOT fall in love with this classic design? It's like a Stratocaster guitar....it's timeless!

I don't know, but I bet it's either a Colt, LMT, Daniel Defense, or Smith & Wesson. :actormike:

Partially right. I've got BRD (black rifle disease). It never goes away. I normally relapse about every 18 months. Coincidentally that is about the time it takes for me to save up for the next one. As for the brand, nope, BCM (Bravo Company Manufacturing).

Pencil barrel, Hammer Forged 1:7 twist, 4150 CMV ORD steel, midlength gas system
    BCM bolt carrier group
    Standard Charging handle
    Magpul MOE midlength handguard
    Mount-and-Slot IWC QD Micro Mount
VCAS 2 point sling with QD studs

BCM blemished lower - my ass. I can't find anything wrong with it.
    Magpul trigger guard, CTR stock.
    Noveske QD receiver plate.
    Magpul Enhanced Butt Pad

Now all I gotta do is pick up a BUIS and a RDS. I'm definitely going Aimpoint, probably in a LaRue mount. It will either be a CompM3, M3L or a H-1 or T-1. Gun show is this weekend so I will see what I can pick up. The only other thing I am thinking of doing is painting this one.

Is there a noticeable difference in feel when shooting the midlength vs a standard carbine?

I dunno. I just got it today and haven't been to the range. However every report I have received does state that there is a reduction in felt recoil. I'm trying to build this one as light as I can, under 8lbs (sans ammo and magazine). Why? Because RANGER (almost 13 going on 30) and SAPPER (11) are small for their ages. They do enjoy shooting the AR though. So maybe this will be easier for them to shoot. With that in mind I am looking hard at an Aimpoint H-1 or T-1.

Oh and as for BRD, I have one more to buy / build. At that point I will have 5 of them; 1 in 6.8mm for hunting and 4 in 5.56. That way everyone in the family will have their own for the rest of their lives.

I hope so. After the shoulder surgery 18 months ago its working well, but I want to do all that I can to avoid abusing it...too much.
