I'm back to my Kimber - I'm sick of the .357 even though it carries better.

Taurus 1911 PT- hands down my favorite handgun, and I'm WAAAAAAY more accurate with this bad boy than my Glocks- long barrel, better sights, plus a way better trigger.

Mine came with a Crimson Trace laser sight in the handgrip and I don't even ever turn it on except for fun- I find I can hit about whatever I aim at with this gun, no problem.

Marso, I handled a Taurus and a Sig-Sauer 1911 the other day and I was very, very surprised. The Taurus had a tac-rail, night sights, etc., and was priced at about $650. The Sig-Sauer was about $1,000 and didn't have a tac-rail.

The Taurus was MUCH better balanced, seemed to be machined much better, and felt like something I could carry, ya know?

I've always considered Taurus a cheap brand, and I just don't have the confidence that it would hold up, ya know?

Les Baer, Springfield Armory, or Kimber.

I'm a fan of the Taurus 1911 line. It's a good gun. But, I don't care for their cosmetic work.

I commonly carry mine. I have a great IWB rig with a big cowhide 'shield' that makes it pretty comfortable and stops the end of the barrel from flagging out from under my shirt tail. I can carry it with nothing but a T-shirt and depending where I position the butt end you'd never know I had it on me.

Oh one of the reasons I don't carry it is that I believe in superiority through volume of fire. Id rather have 15 rounds of .40 available to me than 8 of .45. Just a personal preference that probably comes from my grunt days.

I always carry two. I like the idea of 45 rounds being available vs 24

You guys are hard core. Volume of fire is great if you're in a war; if I have to use more than one mag as a 'dude on the street' I'll be 'advancing toward the rear' as fast as I can safely do so and calling for the cavalry. :soma:

    Word.

I don't carry backup mags anymore.

I figure if I haven't killed it with eight or ten, I'm going to be running away too much to aim for any more.

...and I prefer the term, "charging in the other direction". :D

I carry backup mags so I know I can get off at least three shots. :)

    Yeah.

According to the last FBI stats I saw, the average number of shots fired from a handgun during a lethal force encounter is three.

I figure I'm fine keeping the backups in the car. That being where I'm generally going to be heading if that three doesn't handle the job.

That's up! When I started readin'up on gunplay 20 years ago, it was two!

Obviously, I don't carry, but my .45 is a Colt Gold Cup, series 70, with finger-groove Pachmyer grips and Millet adjustable sights, with a 3 lb trigger job. I suspect it'd be a bit delicate for carry duty. But I have a nice horizontal-carry shoulder rig for it with a double mag-pouch under the right armpit.

Trust me thats my plan tool. I just like having the extra rounds cause you are never going to need them until you need them. Then its too late if you dont have them.

Eh, just use a street howitzer. The last report I saw said that the average number of shots fired from a shotgun during a lethal force encounter was one.

What attributes does a shotgun require to be a "street sweeper?"

I wish to purchase one of these to anger liberals.

The original "Street Sweeper" had a rotary magazine. AFAIK, there may be other manufacturers that also sell scatterguns with rotary magazines.

What about this? I've used it, it's got a nice balance and it's easily concealable.
