As far as my knowledge is concerned the Ebel Men's Watches 1911 watches are among the finest brand watches in the world and this is what the men carry today as well with pride.

My STI Spartan should be here in 8 or 9 weeks.

The Barrel, Frame and Slide are produced in the Philippines by ARMSCOR, but the guts are all STI. They are shipped to ARMSCOR and it is assembled in the Philippines, then shipped to Texas where it goes through the standard STI QC.

Not too bad for my first 1911, especially at the price I got it for.

Just to expand on what Anc said...

They hit the market about a year, year and a half ago. STI saw the success Taurus had with "loaded" but value line 1911's and decided to jump into the market. I've never shot one, but I've held their standard and top of the line over the counter models and they're not bad.

Taurus' and STI's are flying off the shelves while the low-end GI models from Llama and Rock Island are sitting in warehouses collecting dust. 'Cause, face it, to get a "good" 1911, you used to have to spend right at or slightly more than a grand. People settled for the Llama's and Rock Islands of the world just because they couldn't afford to spend another $500 on a Springfield or Kimber. But, they can spend another $100 and get a Taurus or STI and have all the nice features that come on a decked out Springfield or Kimber.

    Eeenteresting.

I shot a high end STI race gun once.

It was a .40, and on the outside it looked like a 1911, but the inside had all these springs, counter-springs and weights jammed in it. The thing was incredible. After every shot fired, the gun went right back to point of aim effortlessly.

I don't know what Model you shot, but the Spartan is the same design as their Trojan. It's just not all made in America, as pointed out earlier, but the insides are all the same and all made by STI in the states. Also unlike the Trojan which has like a 100 different ways you can order it, the Spartan has NO options. A Spartan is a Spartan is a Spartan. You can buy parts yourself and switch them out but when ordering what you see is what you get.
