So, when a man speaks that way to a woman, he’s just doing his job. But, when a woman speaks that way to a man, she’s … “woke”? Fine. Now explain the difference.
Then wouldn't it be sheer fucking hubris on Uhura and Ortegas' part to think these inspectors are only there to fuck their shit up or does hubris only apply to men?
See @Uncle Albert, this is the personification of my statement “most men still in 2023 do not think women are human”.
Um, no they don't. They one I had last year taught me something I didn't know. That's the good thing that they do, they teach you what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong so you know what to look out for next time. But I know you think you know everything about me and just wanted to make fun of me.
I've been mostly ignoring you lately, but when you accuse @Bailey and me of editing your posts, then I'm going to fuck with you for a while, East Coast Dayton.
Oh for fuck’s sake. Are you seriously going to play this game again? You posted it. You quoted it. It’s right there in your post.
and their job is service technician. ergo, they answer to those who's stations they are servicing. they were heavy handed and decidedly unprofessional if they expected to just reset everything and fuck off. the guy Uhura sparred with didn't have his rank given, but presumably as a service tech he's a non-com. SO yeah, maybe those dudes should respect the chain of command...
Finn, Pike, Picard, Riker, Geordi, Culber, Saru ... the franchises you're complaining about are full of positive male role models. Pike in particular embodies a whole host of traditionally male-coded virtues and is the kind of hero that any boy could look up to. They just aren't two-dimensional cardboard cutouts designed primarily to appeal to adolescent fantasies.
It’s not that there’s literally hundreds of male heros on every channel, it’s that there’s a woman having the temerity to speak disrespectfully to a man.
point of order! "assertively", sure. but when has there ever been disrespect? possibly a bit of exasperation that was well warranted. but seriously, the SNW examples were pretty gentle jabs at mansplainers... Then again, he said earlier that the girls were "ganging up" on Spock for his lack of a "go" phrase...
Not even that. They were Hawkeye and BJ snarking off at every "by-the-book" general, Geordi telling Leah Brahms why he modified her designs, and Sisko intoning that "it's easy to be a saint in paradise."
Holy fuck. The guy literally sacrifices his life to save his daughter, the woman he loves and basically the entire world. How is that "emasculating"?!?
Uhura clearly explained why she was in the right and the tech guy was wrong, if he'd done things the way he wanted Enterprise would have completely lost communications for several minutes. That's bad. Besides, in the very next episode, Uhura stands up to a woman when La'an wants to break the rules. So far Uhura's whole thing this season has been asserting herself, albeit in defense of proper procedures. And considering Pelia was the only person from her team who recognized that Spock was faking the warp core breach (and sloppily at that), I have a pretty low opinion of the rest of the techs.
'zactly. There was no reason for her to drop her shit for kiddy table kiddos. Their uniforms were somewhat cadet like, and she was a prof of warp stuff... fuck.. were they third years? She DID design the engines-not too mention the circumstances that her monkeys had at least cleaned it good and she'd likely checked on their progress. no matter(/anti matter)... (Hey.. does this mean Boothby is a Lanthanite?)
