I was on unemployment all of last year and part of this year. Then, unlike most people on welfare, I got a job and I'm now self-sufficient.
Am I on government assistance when I drive to work in the mornings on a road that the state paid for?
And who pays those taxes? The taxpayers. So who actually paid for that road? Hint: it wasn't the state. It was the ___________________ .
It is a form of forced collectivism that allows many to benefit WAY more than they'll ever contribute. All paved roads should be toll roads.
Why not trace the money back further still and insist that those who employ the taxpayers paid for the roads? Or that the customers of those who employ the taxpayers paid for the roads? Or perhaps that wouldn't suit how you want to phrase your answer ideologically.
Because if you go farther back than that, you're going past the basic premise of self-determination. Do you own your time, or does someone else own you, Rick?
Uncle Albert doesn't have kids, so, you can't compare him and Nova. I don't know if the other three have kids or not. I hate toll roads. I figure, if I have to pay to get on them, I should be able to go as fast as I want to go.
That doesn't exactly follow, but I do agree that there should be a slow lane, a normal lane, and a "fast as you can go without crashing" lane.
It follows my way of thinking, and that's all that matters - well, that's all that matters in my little fantasy world, anyway.
Oooh, oooh, and a CELL PHONE LANE, for all you inconsiderate bastards who think it's perfectly acceptable to make everyone else adjust around your phone-impaired driving. Make sure it's nowhere near the main roadway, and make it require special licensing that's reported to your insurance company so only the right peoples' rates go up.
Unemployment isn't welfare. It's insurance that you have no choice but to buy. There's nothing wrong with collecting when you need it. If you're a consistent worker, you will probably pay more into it than you ever take out...
Of course, a small business owner has to pay into unemployment. They can't collect if their business goes tits up, but oh boy do they have to pay into it.
Wrong, employees do not pay into unemployment insurance. Its payed for by the employers. Most employees never pay shit into unemployment insurance, that is a big myth.
