This post would express the same thought if properly translated into other languages, correct?

Otherwise, it would be lost in translation by the very act of my typing it, since that process involves my thoughts commanding my fingers to type, therefore the thought being translated from brain code into alphabetic characters on a computer screen forming english words.

So, if my thoughts survive the translation from brain, to fingers, to my computer screen, and then to your computer screen, then they naturally must also survive the translation from your computer screen to your eyeballs, and into your brain.

Therefore, my original thought from my brain is reconstituted back into brain code inside your brain.

Therefore, every time we converse on these boards, or we talk directly to someone, or write a letter, or make a phone call, we're downloading little bits and pieces of ourselves into other brains.

So, we really do live on in other people's memories.

I'm a composite of zillions of little thought bits from my parents, and grandparents, and aunts and uncles, and Stan Lee, and Frank Herbert, and Storm Rucker, and Cassandra, and Jeriko, and Marathon, and you, and god help me, even Soma.

If you believe in dowloading into a robot or clone body as immortality, as most SF heads do, then you must also believe this, and thus this form of immortality is already happening all around us.

So, even if there is no heaven, and your brain just shuts off, it's really as if just one part of your brain shut off, because little nuggets of it have made backup copies all through your lifetime.

On June 25, 2001 (funny I remember the day), I was walking home and got clocked in the face by a dude who came from the other side of the street. Then these two guys I passed and didn't think much of, grabbed me from behind, and I seem to recall two more from the front came from a small alcove to this park entrance, all started kicking and punching me. The face puncher grabbed my legs and lifted me off the ground so I would fall to the sidewalk. Pretty soon I was getting kicked and hit in the head (that weird sound or "feeling" when your skull gets clocked a few times) and my pockets were emptied.

Then they ran away. I thought of sitting up and watching them run so I can possibly identify them if they get caught, but my mind said, "the best thing right now would be no sudden movement. I can imagine sitting up really fast and then fainting.

A guy and a girl came over and helped me by calling 911. I also noticed they didn't get into my front right pocket which had my smokes and apartment keys.
I was brought to a restaurant around the corner and learned, by being told and then seeing for myself in the restaurant bathroom, that my nose was under my right eye. It should've been in the center of my face.

The doctor at the hospital "reset" my nose. It's almost like it was. It was also not the most pleasant experience. Thankfully it was really late at that point (I was tired) and I had at least four of five beers (slight buzz), so maybe it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I went to the precinct, I gave the best description I could. About two months later, I got a call from a court clerk (she sounded really cute on the phone. Apparently, they caught them, some squealed, the ring leader(s) were sentenced and I should be happy. Apparently, there were a few muggings in the neighborhood. One guy was actually beaten up pretty bad and spent a few weeks in the hospital.

I would've liked to have been there in court to see these punks. maybe even give them a few words of my own.
