So what you are saying is that New Yorkers like crazy people covering the Senate for them? Nothing new, or surprising there.
Bah. Giuliani became a Loser in my book when he pulled out of the Senate race against Hillary in the 11th hour, giving her the seat for her first term. Even if many of his policies were not odious, he'd still be the guy who chokes and folds when the pressure is on.
I'm counting on the fact that "whoever was running the strategy on Guiliani's campaign bungled big time." They've all been hired by the GOP to manage the get-out-the-vote effort in November. If they get out the vote like they did for Giuliani . . .
If you think Clinton's a spectacularly bad loser, and she is, then Giulianis losses over the years are among the few things that can make her seem honorable in defeat. It wasn't so bad this time because his lost so spectacularly badly, but his tantrums whenever he'd lose a battle with the courts or the City Council as mayor made even GWB and Clinton look like good losers in comparison.
That ticket would be the best thing in the world that could happen to John McCain. Imagine the "any but but Hussein and Hillary" votes!
I seem to remember his divorce settlement was getting pretty ugly at the time too, with embarassing details trickling out regularly. This was back when Republican sex scandals were big news, mind you.
I just don't think it's fair to call him a quitter for bowing out due to health reasons. I remember being disappointed, as I was looking forward to the Giuliani/Clinton showdown. The '08 rematch never really got off the ground.
I think the point is that the health "reasons" weren't the real reasons. Giuliani had a good enough prognosis that he could have continued in good faith, and he'd have had a much better chance of winning than Rick Lazio did, even if he'd have remained an underdog. Given Giuliani's history of being an absurdly sore loser, it's not unreasonable to conclude that he took an easy excuse and sold out his party and made sure they'd lose because he really didn't like the fact that he'd probably, but far from certainly, lose himself.
Yeah, it's not like he contracted prostrate cancer, the exact same type of cancer that killed his father. No need to take THAT seriously. Obviously, he was just a coward. That would explain the later presidential run when he was in remission. Time for the meds again, Liet.
Yawn, I'm not concerned. REALITY CHECK: The Klan will take care of him if he wins and we'll still end up with Hillary.
As much of an assclown Giuliani is, the dude had freakin cancer and if I recall the same kind of cancer that killed his father. I can't exactly blame him for dropping out.
