Daughters of the Confederacy take another hit - the massive 32 foot statue to their 'confederate heroes' at Arlington National Cemetery will be taken down no later than 1/1/24. https://ggwash.org/view/91892/massi...d-confederate-history-soon-to-leave-arlington Of the Arlington Confederate Memorial, the Naming Commission said, “The memorial offers a nostalgic, mythologized vision of the Confederacy, including highly sanitized depictions of slavery.” The report identifies several lies and racist images in the sculpture, including that the coats of arms of Kentucky, Maryland and Missouri are included in the 14 shields on the monument’s pedestal, even though only 11 states joined the Confederacy. “The memorial’s inclusion of the heraldry from those states distorts history by inflating the Confederacy’s size, support and significance.” The report also highlights racist and misleading depictions of two Black figures on the statue. It further explains that the Latin phrase “Victrix causa diis placuit sed victa Caton” inscribed on the statue means, “The victorious cause was pleasing to the gods, but the lost cause to Cato,” thereby construing the Confederacy as a noble “Lost Cause.”
You know, it’s not a memorial to the confederacy, it’s a memorial to the dead, this shit is getting ridiculous.
Why would he start now? It's like they say: you can't teach Trump voters new tricks. Dead slaver, traitor Confederates. Losers, too. At least the French won a war or two.
Lincoln never recognized the confederacy and still considered them Americans, but yeah let’s reduce it down to them simply being traitors despite the fact that some were conscripted.
Can do. Upon hearing General Lee bemoan Grant's tactics in the Wilderness, General Grant was heard to say, cigar in hand, "lol. git gud."
If you look into it, the French have a very impressive win rate. But their losses are spectacular. Still performed better than the Rebels though.
Well, some of them were conscripted, so no one was a traitor. He has evidence, but you'd never believe him anyway.
Guess what, Grant and Lincoln wanted reconciliation. They pardoned Lee, they didn't prosecute every confederate soldier. The whole point of the prosecution of the war in Lincoln and many Union soldiers' eyes was to put the Union back together, they didn't seek revenge and the only point of shit like this is to drive a wedge and reopen old wounds.
Sorry, remind us how many years we've been hearing "the South will rise again!!"? They've been picking at those scars from day fucking one, but sure it's the left that can't let it go...
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” ~George Orwell 1984
You're right, we should probably dig up the bodies burn the remains and take the ashes and dump them into Mt. Doom to be sure that the confederacy never returns.
Remind me again the history of Arlington. Who did it belong to and why was it turned into a military cemetery?
