I wasn't a fan of his recent stuff, but in years past I thought he was a very funny guy. I actually saw him in concert in 1999 in Las Vegas. Vaya con Dios, George.

Too many good people are dying lately. I just returned from the funeral of one of my favorite uncles.
Bummer. He was doing a show for a while in Vegas but that ended a couple of years ago. I heard it was a health thing.
He was awfully nihlistic in his later years, often talking about how he enjoyed watching humanity destroy itself. Guess he got what he wanted. I enjoyed his early work, but at the end he was just another asshole.
Well, at least he went out while he was still fairly amusing. I mean, he wasn't on par with his stuff from the 60s and 70s, but he hadn't sunk to "Family Circus" levels.
And to keep this topical for the forum, here is George's extremely perceptive analysis of these environmentalist asswipes. It's one of my favourite rants.
I suspect it had something to do with his wife of 34 years (Brenda Carlin) dying in 1997. Anyway, RIP Mr.Carlin, thanks for the laughs, oh and before I forget, Shit, Piss, Fuck, Cunt, Cocksucker, Motherfucker and Tits.
Yeah, a lot of it changed when his wife died of cancer. However, putting into your comedy routine that you are actively rooting for other people to die just went too far. I tuned him out about that time. He was just mean and vindictive. That wasn't the case when he was younger.
