Dude, bold print? Calm down. I remember the OU Texas game. Like I said, you can only play the personnel on the field. But teams evolve over the course of a season. In last night's game, Bama most likely would have lost had McCoy remained in. Anybody who watched could see it. Texas would have had more options with McCoy in. Bama couldn't have been certain the run play was coming like they were with Gilbert on that fatal play when they got to Gilbert. Nobody can take the title from Bama at the end of the day, so tough noogies for me.

McCoy going out changed the game fundamentally for both sides. You cannot project the difference in the game by looking only at what McCoy would change for Texas. You are assuming that Bama would maintain the same gameplan/playcalling with Gilbert as they would with McCoy. That is beyond unrealistic.

Also, it should be pointed out that McElroy came into the game with cracked ribs, and Ingram was dinged up in the first half which limited his carries in the second. I just don't like the "what if" game.

Probably so. Saban couldn't even crack a smile when he was doused with Gatorade. He looked pissed off. Does he ever unclench? You could shove a piece of coal up his ass and get a diamond back when he finally took a crap.

Honestly I think he was mad that he got nailed with the cooler, not so much the gatorade.

Good hire, but this will be fun to watch. I know that Tubbs is a defensive guy, and we all remember his disastrous experiment (never before seen! ) with the spread offense at Auburn. So how is he gonna do inheriting a team built for a certain system, by the master of said system? Will he give the offense free reign with a spread coordinator, or try to remake it? Will he keep Ruffin? Will Ruffin McNeil stay after being passed up?

Yeah, should be interesting. On the surface, you have to like the fact that Tech hired a proven winner. On the other hand, they could not have made a hire more counter to their current football team. Tommy doesn't do offense. The last time he had a team that could score was when he had 3 first round draft pics in his backfield. Don't count on that at Tech.

At this point we still have both Florida Receivers committed... somehow. I'm not counting on that for sure but if Tubs maintains the offense as he said he would and we do actually have what could be the next Crabtree coming in then we might be in for seeing something great. I am being as optimistic as possible. I don't want to be Anc and say this is going to be "an offense the likes of which have never been seen!" or whatever he said, but I'm definitely more happy to have Tuberville than Briles (the losingest couch in the Big XII).

Also I like my new word, "losingest", it's great.

How do you figure? Right now he's the second highest paid coach in all of College Football at $4,700,000 per year guaranteed for the next eight years. Add on another $200,000 for making it to the SEC Championship, another $200,000 for going to the National Title Game, and another $200,000 for winning the National Title Game.

Only Mack Brown at Texas makes more.

Pete Carroll made more and left for the Seahawks.

I have to believe someone, somewhere will make him a better offer and he'll go in a heartbeat.

Pete Carroll made 4.4 million dollars per year. I'm not a smart man, but at my high school, 4.4 is less than 4.7.

Also, Nick Saban has been to the pros. He failed. Miserably. 15-17 with no post season bids at all. His players hated him. Management hated him for lying. The fans hated him. He won't be back in the pro's, no.

Pete Carroll is stupid. He's a failed NFL coach and he never had it so good as he did at USC. Saban is also an NFL failure. We'll see if he's as stupid as Carroll.

Carroll is leaving USC because the NCAA may be laying the wood to that program pretty soon in the form of penalties and probation due to the Reggie Bush investigation.

He's getting out "one step ahead of the law", so to speak.

And I loved what the NBC announcers said regarding Carroll (and college coaches in general who try to switch to the pros) during the Jets game today: "It's a lot easier to coach poor 19-year olds than it is rich 25-year olds."

I just don't think Nick Saban is the kind of person to stick around. He's an all-around asshole.

Oh yeah, Carroll is getting the hell out of dodge. That was my first thought, too. First all the crap with Reggie Bush and now they've got this player this season who was driving around campus in a donated car pretty flagrantly. Sooner or later the NCAA will have to lower the boom on its preferentially treated child. It won't have any choice.

Yeah, the exact same thing that happened at USC happened at Florida in 1996 when they shared the championship. Except it was more than one guy. The NCAA did nothing.

If they get USC, it won't be for Bush in particular, but the feeling that something was henke in general.

Honestly, I think that would already be a non-issue if it wasn't for the OJ Mayo scandal. That however might take you into 'lack of institutional control', and that will be more than just a slap on the wrist.

USC is a far better gig than Tennessee these days. I'm surprised they are letting him out of his contract.

SC had to act fast to get some kind of group in place before national signing day. Its a link to Carroll for them and bringing along Dad ain't going to hurt.

Probably the best they could do in the circumstances.

Oh, and Tenessee was a blocked field goal away for winning against eventual national champion Alabama. And that block shouldn't have counted but the SEC officials made yet another horrible call that helped the higher rank SEC team continue to be the higher ranked SEC team.

Seems like there's more than a little home cookin' going on down there. More things change...

Hmmm... Kiffin brings along his dad Monte, Ed Orgeron who was Ole Miss' coach and a top recruiter, and somehow Norm Chow is coming over from UCLA.

Not sure Kiffin is the right guy for the job, but man he brings a hell of a staff.

And the #2 player and #1 WR has said he's committing this Monday.

Not a bad take all things considered.

Oh, and we need a playoff. Alabama was a great team but they lost a BCS bowl to a MWC team just last year. Hard to say that Boise State would have no chance against them.
