Ok, I got the Creation kit, and yes a version that works with my "non-retail" version.

I made a personal .esp file and it saved. I can even pick it out when I reopen Creation kit.
But I can't find the file itself.
So I can't add it to the Data Files when I start the game.
Soo.... it's useless to make that file.

And advise other than buying a retail version?

Each of my characters has had his own little foibles and quirks.

Whenever my Redguard steals something from a place, he makes it a point to steal a sweet roll as well and chow on it afterwards as a little 'victory dance.' But only after the fat lady sings, of course.

Some might call him "The sweet roll banidto..."

BIG DLC's promised for Skyrim. They might just open up Cyrodiil or Morrowind :)

    Awesome news.

A few things I'd like to see:

    1. Fix the glitched quests. Ran into the one yesterday with Cragslane Cavern and had to use the console to fix it. (After some internet research)

    2. Spears, lances, mounted combat.

    3. Weapons and armor packs.

    4. The Holy Grail: Import Morrowind and/or Oblivion into this engine. Too big a project for mere DLC.
  5. Demiurge

Yeah, I'll have to wait and judge the game once the DLC's are out, because that's how I'm viewing their competitors.

    Personal favorites:

    Fallout/New Vegas
    Mass Effect
    Skyrim

For modern RPGs. Skyrim might go higher with the right DLCs.

    For PC and Nvidia users.
The latest drivers (295.73) give a massive performance boost to Skyrim.

I've been playing Elder Scrolls games for 10 years and for some reason I have never been a Khajiit or an Argonian

I was a dark elf in Oblivion. This time I picked Khajiit for the night vision, and guess what? Skyrim is lit up like a bonfire. I've used it twice. :garamet:

I also have a Breton, Imperial, Nord, and wood elf.
I'm trying different things with each.

Post some pics of your character(s).

The races in this game don't make me jump for joy- I'm a bit of a purist, I guess. I'd rather have elves, half-elves, gnomes, dwarves, halflings, etc.

The elves in this series just look awful (and seem to be largely evil to boot!), and I find it f'd up that you can find Orcs just hanging out interacting with the locals everywhere. Orcs are monsters, kill-on-sight sort of creatures IMHO. Half Orcs are okay occasionally, so. Orcs are not Klingons, which is what this franchise seems to be trying to make them.

And in what frakkin' 'verse is Orcish gear better than Dwarf-craft? C'mon, man!

I've played Imperial, Nord, Breton, and Redguard- basically the flavors of human.

I've gone back and am replaying Oblivion (I say re-playing, but it would be more accurate to say 'playing for the first time')

Oddly enough, after all the time I've spent with Skyrim the main plot of Oblivion actually makes sense to me now. The Blades, the Daedra, the gates, Martin Septim being Dragonborn, etc.

My character is a Nord viking (:D )of course. He was in jail because he came down to freeboot, raid, pillage, and strandhog, but something changed for him after meeting Uriel Septim. He's gotten roped into a life-altering adventure, and although he's avoiding joining the Blades, he's forging bonds and saving Tamriel from the Daedra, all for the greater glory of the Nords and his hope of a glorious death in batt;e and going to Sovngarde. :spaceturk:

My next Skyrim char will be a Nord again, either Sigurd's youngest son or grandson, and given his ancestor's ties to the Blades and the Empire, he'll actually side with the Empire again Ulfric and the Stormcloaks. Should be interesting.

I don't roleplay, I just steal and kill as much as possible. I'll kill anyone for any reason as long as I can get away with it.

I got a mod to kill children so they don't wake up the parents when I sneak into houses, because for some reason, not a single child in Skyrim ever sleeps. Also, they're fucking obnoxious. Either they repeat the same line 50 times or they threaten to hurt you because they're soooo tough. Bleh.

    I'm a terrible person. :(

When I replay a game like Skyrim 3 or 4 times I have to roleplay to tell a character-unique story 'in my head.' I'm creating a lot more mental content for each character than the game provides (almost as though I'm sitting down to plot out writing about it, but I don't).

The cool thing is when the unexpected happens due to gameplay, and you have to mentally adjust your story to fit.

One of my Nords fell in love with Annekke Crag-Jumper after she ran off to adventure with him. It turned out she was an Imperial loyalist, however, and the first time he attacked an Imperial patrol to free a prisoner (after their first and only night of passion, no less) she turned on him and actually attacked him. The Nord killed her without mercy and dumped her body in the river, yet he was heartbroken.

Much later in the game he was looking to get hitched to Olfina Gray-mane (for love AND politics, as it were), but for some reason the mod I was using wouldn't yield up the spousal convo-trees. So 'spurned', he moved on and eventually fell for Ingrid the Younger, daughter of Markarth's jarl. She agreed to marry, but mysteriously vanished on the eve of their wedding. Once again, my guy was busted up. (I thought it was a glitch- it wasn't. It had to do with me freeing Markarth about that time for Ulfric, and their whole line goes into exile in the Solitude court. I finally 'found' Ingrid several hours of gameplay later, but my guy was already married to someone else. They reconciled and remained friends.)

Then, about the time it was time to trap Odavhing, my guy took yet another shot at courting Olfina Gray-Mane in a different part of the palace, and lo! The mod worked! Off they went to Riften, married in the temple of Mara. Wedded bliss at last!!!!!! (I attributed it to my char helping the Gray-Mane family free the guy being held up near Solitude by the Thalmor). Guess that put him over the top with Olfina.

Anyway, you see how it goes. These mental 'fill-ins' make the game much more enjoyable for me. More of a mental PnP experience, if you will, than the cold repetition of computer-generated content. It's a lot easier to do with 'sandbox' games like this one than more linearly plotted stories like DAO.

I've noticed that too. Just like in Oblivion, I automatically pick up torches when ever I come across them, but unlike Oblivion I've never had to use one.

Hmmm...youtube of Skyrim machoman are not showing up.

I've notices that night and caving are not DARK.
    That certainly needs to change.
I downloaded a mod for it, but it did jack squat.

Well, I've retired my level 55 Redguard and I'll wait for DLC to continue his story. I started over and made an albino Orc named Barlog with an awesome beard. He doesn't know it yet, but he will be quite a Mage.

You're thinking of Bal-Rog from Street Fighter. I was actually thinking of Cory Barlog, the Game Director of God of War II when I named my character. Great game if you haven't played it.

    I'm having a problem.

Anyone else having issues with Blackreach?

Both of the exits on the floor of the cavern glitch on the surface.

And the upper level exit through the Market... How do you get out of that?
Is there a lever or button I'm missing?

Happened to me too. I was able to fast travel to another location when it happened to me.

Does anyone else get an idea that Bethesda is f**king with us? This game was released on November 2011... It's mid April 2012 and they haven't even announced DLC yet.

No release date yet, but obviously this will be post E3 and exclusive to Xbox for at least 30 days. Kind of sucks... I'll be playing it on Xbox, but I won't be able to speak to you guys about it until possibly after the 4th of July or later. :(

That's usually a very dull period for gaming, so this might work out that I could spend a lot of hours digging into this.
