Help me out, I am trying to list out all the shows I want to check out so I can remember to program my DVR. What's the name of the show where the cops find a girl with no memory who is all tattooed up and has a detective's name tattooed on her back?
Updated now that the fall is upon us: (first to note - all those in the previous post were network shows as cable/Internet offerings can be harder to find a list of and more unpredictable but there are some here - things mentioned in the TV Guide preview issue at least) Changed my mind - Minority Report and Limitless are both being seriously panned by the critics I've seen. Add- Ash v.s Evil Dead - goes without saying, no? Jessica Jones - Marvel + Netfllix = Can't miss The Man in the High Castle - if I pony up for Amazon Prime Agent X - kind of a maybe, a TNT show which sounds like a fun premise if you take it as fun ala "The Librarians" (which is one I'm going to have to get up to speed on if I can find it on any of my sources) but it might fall into the "I don't really have time for another show" category. Into the Badlands - an insane but fascinating premise And that stuff coming up on SyFy - The Expanse and a couple of others not coming to mid right this sec
@Forbin Finally got back to this over the last few weeks - I'd only ever watched the first couple of episodes before - and I gotta say it is SO much more than I was expecting. REALLY impressed!
I'm caught up all the way to the last 2 episodes of S3 on Netflix, then I'll have to see if the torrents have the one i missed Friday. The complexity of the storytelling and the characters is amazing. Super underrated.
The torrents have all the episodes. Continuum is a great show that I found out about a few posts up. I have to say that the story is much better than Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles. Also, season 6 episode 1 of Downton Abbey aired today.
YES! My torrent site is back to normal! And just in time. So here's my schedule once everything with a fall premiere is back, though some will be watched online: Monday - Gotham, Supergirl, Castle Tuesday - The Flash, Agents of SHIELD, The Muppets, Best Time Ever (?) Wednesday - Arrow, Nashville Thursday - Heroes Reborn, Sleepy Hollow (PoI after football season) (Blacklist is on my list of shows to catch up on in the future but too behind now) Friday - Continuum for a few more weeks Saturday - Dr. Who Sunday - The Librarians (if I get caught up), Walking Dead (when it's back) Most of that is network shows I know, a lot of cable stuff doesn't keep a fall premiere schedule. Also, Jessica Jones drops in November I think.
So, I broke down and subscribed to Hulu. I will be watching Muppets ... at least, for a little while. and Continuum. I'll have to have Uncle Albert remind me when that is ready for Hulu. Tried to watch Big Bang Theory, but ... the first night I tried, it was $20 for the first season. the next night, when I had more time and my credit card, it was $30. Now, I'm thinking I don't even want to see it at all. So, since I haven't had cable tv in years, what are some good shows? I saw Nova's list above. Is there anything else?
I'm sorry, but the correct response is "Are there some good shows?" So you drop back to $1200 and Barry regains control of the board. For the older series, especially whole seasons, I'd go with alternate methods of watching. My favorites have been Fringe, Person of Interest, Continuum, Humans, 12 Monkeys, Downton Abbey, The Walking Dead, Sleepy Hollow, Rick and Morty, The 100, The Last Ship, True Blood, and Vikings.
Actually, Continuum is on Netflix now. But Hulu is where you get the stuff that's in the same season (for the networks that are on board with them). As for the charges for BBT - that's what torrents are for. If execs see fit to motivate you to go there, then go there (IMO). As for recommendations... Many think The Good Wife is a masterpiece but it's an old show with a ton of catching up to do The most highly praised newer show at the moment has to be Empire, which only has one previous season in the books to catch up on. The Thursday night block of Scandal (3 or 4 previous seasons?) and How to Get Away With Murder (only one I think) has passionate fans. The Blacklist is almost certainly excellent, and someday I'll find time to watch it. That's just broadcast networks of course, I don't have pay channels like HBO so it would be mostly word of mouth on those - and it certainly depends on your tastes. For me, genre shows always come first (if they keep tabs on it on io9, and it's not horror type stuff, I'm probably interested. Which means that The Good Wife, for example, keeps getting pushed back on the playlist.
caught The Muppets - funny if you care for the type of show ("The Office" type of thing) but not additively so.
speaking of gathering opinions, anyone got a take on Killjoys or Dark Matter? Before I invest in getting up to speed I'd like to know if they suck...
I'm Netflix caught up on Scandal and Blacklist, so I can start fresh with those this season. I'll have to Google How to Get Away with Murder, and Empire. Haven't heard of them. But, I did watch Strange Empire. It hasn't been mentioned here. Might be a Netflix Original.
Thanks for your list in post #64, hadn't heard about most of them. As for Killjoys and Dark matter: definitely check out Dark Matter, it sort of feels like the new Firefly, a bit. Killjoys is a bit of dumb fun, but it has spaceships and it's scifi, so it's fun while it lasts. Wouldn't pay to see it though. But then, I wouldn't pay for almost any tv show.
I'm checking out Dark Matter. It's pretty good so far. #6 is played by Roger Cross who plays Travis Verta on Continuum. Among the directors are Andy Makita, Martin Wood, and Amanda Tapping, and there are Stargate connections among the writers, too. ETA: It has Will Wheaton in a real role!
P.S> The Grinder. Saw it tonight. Laughed my ass off. A bit. But I am drunk. Will get back to y'all when I see an episode sober.
Yesterday, i watched Zero Dark Thirty again. That movie makes me focused while watching it. What are some similar movies that i can watch after this one? From an Xperia device
Anyone watched 'The Expanse' yet? Some people seem to think its good. I might try the first episode tonight
Yes! I've finally caught up on the broadcast episodes, and I'm enjoying it. Seems quite well done so far. I like the overall casting. The plotlines make sense. They've kept it pretty close to the books so far, just moving up Chrisjen Avasarala's introduction earlier into the mix in order to get a third plotline and heighten the Earth/Mars/Belt political strife sooner. Other thoughts: - Holden looks nothing like I'd pictured him. Definitely younger. More ethnic too. - I don't recall the animosity amongst the Canterbury survivors like they are portraying. But it's been awhile since I've read the books. (I only got through the first two, have since ordered the third and started reading it). - Miller is younger than expected, too, but Thomas Jane is doing a decent job with the character overall. Needs to seem a bit more down-and-out, though, IMO. - I'm liking the Belter's speech patterns/slang. They've done a good job of manufacturing a Belter dialect for the near future.
under 3 weeks to go before Legends of Tomorrow! Agent Carter is back this month too! Galavant is back Sunday night!
Even though Netflix released season four of Longmire in October, I didn't get around to watching it until this week. It's really good.
Why? It's just going to be more backstabbing, more plotting, and more murder and assassination. And for what? They don't even have anyone working on indoor plumbing or standardized screw threads. Their society is technologically backwards and completely stagnant. A modern infantry battalion would wipe them all out while they're coming up with incantations against the magic thunder sticks.
