exactly! And as for nobody on the right (except Zombie) taking this seriously that's not really accurate. I'm taking common sense precautions but not getting wrapped around the axle over it. What the fuck would we do if an actual holy shit war was going on within our borders? I'm just trying to keep things in perspective - we all face statistically larger threats on a daily basis and we find a happy medium between not-giving-a-fuck and turtling up in the fetal position. I'm not going to lose my shit over it, though of course I'll be frustrated like anybody else over work closures and event cancellations and so forth. But I'm sure not going to sweat over any "worst case" scenario.

This is a serious public health issue that requires a quick, thoughtful response based on science.

Unfortunately most Western governments were slow to respond and, in the case of the United States, you have a government led by someone more interested in stroking their own ego than solving the issue.

As for skies falling, I think at the epicenters for infections it's going to be bad. Major metropolitan hospitals will be turning away patients. Yeah, 99% will survive if the 10% that need medical attention get it. In a city of 3 million, 300,000 are going to need medical attention in a very short time. 30,000 are going to die no matter what.
