Spot on. Injury prevention has been part of their purview since the early 60s. They were banned from research into gun violence by the Dickey Amendment. This lasted a quarter of a century. It's technically still on the books, but after former Congressman Dickey himself, the American Medical Assocation, the American Association of Pediatrics, the American Association of Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Association, the American College of Physician, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Public Health Association all protested against it the language was changed so that research could be conducted, it just couldn't advocate for gun control. You should know you are on the wrong side when all the doctors and scientists say you are wrong. Let alone the guy who created the law in the first place. After Aurora, he said he was wrong to become the NRA's point person to silence scientific research, and that we as a society needed to know more about it, not less.
The actual text, minus your dishonest "interpretation". This here is action and consequence. Focusing on the actual guilty parties, the people who have proven themselves a threat. Who would have a problem with that? People who don't want to be held accountable for their bad decisions. That, and chickenshit screechbags trying to score petty internet points. I am on the record many times saying the same standards apply to everyone's conduct and everyone should be held equally accountable. That it doesn't always shake out that way is not my doing and nothing I would advocate. I don't care what you look like, how wealthy you are or how sympathetic of a profile you cut, your actions have consequences that are yours to face. The only way you could argue against that is if you were advocating for tailored, special treatment. Not that you would ever sprout the gonads to own up to such a sentiment. How is that my fault? Am I expected to throw out personal accountability to right this wrong? Are you saying there can be no accountability without racism and classism? That's just fucking stupid. No other way to characterize it. Once again, the actual text: So, just you (and 14thDouchenozzle), lying again because you somehow convince yourself it makes you look clever. "You didn't condemn this one thing that one time, therefore you love it and support its every iteration" is just a dumb juvenile tactic. A reasonable person would ask, "Say, you didn't mention XYZ. What is your position on them?" But you didn't, because you're not. You're looking to shoot holes in a comment that was never meant to be an exhaustive, bulletproof manifesto of absolutely all the bad people in the world. More petty internet points for mommy's special boy. And no, it's not a "pattern." Entering a very specific topic with a whole generic laundry list of the entire spectrum of unrelated people who should face consequences for their shitty deeds is a needlessly pedantic measure, serving no purpose but to indulge people who had no honest intent of engaging in the first place. So, I don't mindlessly shit on cops, without regard for situational context or nuance, therefore I'm a "cop kisser." Do you notice when I state explicitly that bad cops should face their consequences? Do you care? Of course not. Separating the good from the bad strays too far from the script. The truth doesn't matter to you. Only the pose. This is just you flexing your Super Woke Twitter Ghoul imitation in some sad, sweaty need to remain hip. Nobody, and I mean nobody is impressed with that act. I think if you could have turned up the faintest whiff of a smoking gun, you would have long since done so and broken your arm patting yourself on the back. Instead, you and Fox news making strange bedfellows, play the "I'm just asking questions. If you're not guilty, why haven't you addressed XYZ under the transparently stacked terms I dictate?" tactic. A very low stoop for someone who acts so fucking aloof.
But you kinda do. If everything were run by UA clones, then it'd be just jim-dandy. But history has shown that when you set things up in this libertarian bullshit way, you don't get Albertopia, you get Klan-cops. You get fucking Klan-cops every fuckin' time. And then, eventually, when you get enough generations of rednecks kissing the Klan-cops, you get Klan-President. And then guess what Klan-President does with the Klan-cops? Thaaaat's right! You either seem to plug your ears to this, or know it, and don't give a shit. If it's the latter, fuck your feelings. If it's the former, plug your ears to the whole goddamned universe, and ignore my ass.
No, I fucking don't. That's your process of elimination bullshittery that artificially confines the options. As if you alone are uniquely empowered to impose those terms. And since I am only responsible for what I control, here we are, exactly where I fucking said we would be. I'm consistent in my terms while you try to shove a square peg through the round hole that contains all your canned bullshit arguments. We don't get everything right on the first try. Or even the hundredth. And I wasn't in charge of the first 99. Yet I have to hear, over and goddamn over, that socialism can be made to work if we finally figure out how to implement it correctly. So I'll take a play from their book: If I can start with a group of people who know how to fucking act, it can be made to work. Another half-assed reply that skipped over everything you were unable to address. I'll be slowly dying of shock over here.
An image that attempts to define the meaningless, slippery concept of CRT. I guess you have to read between the lines with your personal brand of beer goggles to see the racist angle in that. Unless this is the fucktarded "Questioning any part of it is TEH RACISS," which would reflect more on you than me.
Imagine thinking that someone not being able to safely control a gun or vehicle means they shouldn't be allowed out in public.
It reflects an inability to manage one's personal conduct. If you can only be held to the standards of a toddler, sticking you in day care makes a damn sight more sense to me than forcibly molding the whole of society into a big, soft playpen where you can't hurt anyone.
you mean your refusal to see it as anything but meaningless and slippery, let alone acknowledge the detailed explanations that have been provided in the past? and it's that sort of dishonesty that separates critical thought from pedantic stupidity.
I recently heard someone equate white supremacy to HFCS - and the analogy makes perfect sense. If you're not looking for it, you won't know it's there. But, it's in everything. Once you start looking at labels and actually trying to find what exactly is in processed foods, you'll see HFCS is in almost everything.
OR, if you set the bar low enough and squint, everything is "oppression" and there's always an excuse to act offended.
I'm just saying, it's there. If you don't want to see it, that doesn't mean it isn't there. It just means you don't want to see it.
. The only "attempts" I've seen were just vague and greasy enough to hold onto the benefit of the doubt over it being "just history" without any subjective editorializing about modern politics.
IOW you are either unable or (more likely) unwilling to grasp the concept and figure that an overabundance of adjectives will serve as a critique...
Please. I've been around the block enough times to distinguish the marketing from the product. I would need uncensored access to classroom video feeds before I accept that any teacher is on the level about this. Yet many of them are resistant to even allowing parents to see that. I wonder why...
Classroom video feeds? Please. Teachers say shit all the time. Even when I was in school, teachers give their opinions as well as teaching the required content. This is not new. It's been that way since there has been public schools. The only reason people care now is because teachers are informing the children that racism is not a good thing. and some parents are upset about that. Fuck them.
Primarily because that's not anything that even SHOULD need to be happening. You want folk requesting video of you doing your job? Why should teachers be fucking singled out? Fuck's sake. You do your job, and we'll accept that whoever hired you and does your performance reviews knows what they are fucking doing. Grant us the same fucking courtesy. Again, we're too fucking busy trying to ensure kids come out of the education cycle knowing the stuff they're MEANT to be learning without throwing societal or political shit in there too. You don't even HAVE kids, but you'll demand video evidence from teachers because POLITICIANS told you something... y'know, the fucking lying liars that lie?
I'm on camera all day every day. Accountable to the people who sign my paychecks. Teachers do NOT have autonomy to undermine parents or indoctrinate with their personal beliefs.
