Honestly, this strikes me like the whole spaz-monkey fight between Yoda and Dooku in the PT. If you've read The Hero With a Thousand Faces (which is where Lucas came up Star Wars after getting denied the rights to Flash Gordon), as well as works on Samurai culture and Zen Buddhism, you'll know that Yoda being a spaz money is absolutely not how the character should act. But, boy, did it get the superficial fans cheering in the theater. Only later did we see folks saying, "You know, the PT isn't all that good, and I can't believe anyone ever liked it."

Meaning it'll be popular in the short-run, but longer term, folks won't be quite as thrilled by it.

Says the story is kind of basic and thin, but you won't care, cuz the action set pieces, and surprises are so cool, the theater will be screaming.
Says Raimi really made this a horror, and you'll be shocked by how far they go.

I think I've done a good job of sifting out the confirmed stuff.
If you go by pure rumor, people have been saying everyone in a Marvel movie ever is there.
I haven't been posting that stuff, I've stuck to stuff with good evidence.
Anyhoo! He says there's "a certain musical hook" that'll make you go wild.
My prediction?

Looks like this film won't make it to China theaters, literally over the obscure appearance of a newspaper box in one scene.

Is it good? Not really, but it is fun and watchable. Despite the parallel universe aspect, the plot is really just one chaotic action piece after another.

The plot never really develops beyond "villain seeks something, hero attempts to keep villain from getting it because horrible things will ensue." The villain (and the villain is pretty good) needs to capture and perform a lethal operation on young America Chavez, a teen with the ability to jump between the parallel universes of the multiverse. Fortunately, Dr. Strange is on hand to keep the girl safe by fleeing to these alternate realities. Action ensues, there are surprise character cameos.

One classic MCU line gets re-used in a crowd-pleasing way.

There are a few instances of fairly graphic horror and one instance of "they didn't explicitly show it, but you know what happened," and it's pretty horrific.

Sam Raimi influences abound. Some elements seem taken from earlier Raimi films.

The end scene is a little shocking and portends that there may be fallout from this film going forward. A title card says, yes, "DOCTOR STRANGE WILL RETURN."

Tough to rate this one. It's fun, but I think it's ultimately not going to be memorable because there's little depth to it. Probably better than all of last years' films (except Shang Chi).

I figured that’s who the villain would be.

It's worth watching, but the comic book universes have left Sam Raimi behind, and man, does it show at times. Beautiful, action packed, some good high concept stuff, but some classic Raimi cheese, no subtlety at all and in some places it could have used it. There's a pretty good twist at the end. Benedict Cumberbatch remains the same - serviceable, but not bringing the same level of charisma to the role as several other of the Marvel heroes.

I give it a B. I enjoyed it but it's not one with tons of rewatch potential.

It's practically Evil Dead 3.5.

Is it "the greatest Marvel movie ever"?
Oh, Hell no.

As for ranking it...it's definitely better than Dr. Strange 1.
Against recent ones,....better than Eternals, better than Black Widow, not as good as Shang-Chi or No Way Home.
Although, I can't wait to get it on Blu-ray so I can see how it plays as a duology with No Way Home.

I nailed all the cameos but...

The leaker who said it's mostly a Dr. Strange movie and not a backdoor Avengers movie was right.
If you're going JUST for cameos, you're gonna be a little let down.
That's not a spoiler, the ads are telling you it's all about Strange, believe it.

I nailed predicting the music cue too.

So, yeah, dug it a lot, but didn't love it.
I repeat, No Way Home was better.

Just like pretty much everything else in life, Paladin is wrong on this one. Pay him no heed, fellow Wordforgers.

This film is a solid 8/10. Not quite as good as Spider-Man No Way Home, but definitely better than Shang-Chi (which was also quite good) and don't even dare compare it to the shitfest that was Eternals.

There are definitely some parts in the film that drag, but if you're an MCU fan, this is scratches most of your itches.

Also, there were nowhere near as many cameos as the nerds have been predicting.

Main issue with this is it robs Wanda of the development in WandaVision. The producers even admitted they didn't watch the show but were just told "the bits that were relevant".

OK, she's corrupted by the Darkhold.

She's still reduced to a one-note villain who has a heel-realization and turns good at the end character.

Unless they are setting up a redemption story (which she essentially just HAD) this was a waste of the character.

Maybe Olsen wants out, I dunno.

Doesn't appear to be the case at this time. She said today that she's up for more stories if they are good stories, and in the last year has said she wants a story arc with Paul Bettany and White Vision to finish that off.

I didn't like how they handled her either, and put most of the blame on Raimi. You could have had her be the bad guy and show the corruption over time at the beginning of the story. Instead it was a fait accompli and virtually no time was spent on it.

Indeed, the ending of WandaVision was expressly twisted to have no meaning.

I've got a feeling they are going to reuntie the timeline/reset the multiverse at the end of this, which is how we get the X-Men, FF, and Avengers in the same universe. So maybe that won't matter.

I thought it was fun, but a little bummed out about how they just trashed one of the main characters here. I was kind of thinking this would be a redemption arc for this person, but they went completely the other way. The sad thing is this development actually makes sense. Considering where we last saw them, it’s easy to see them taking this route.
But all in all, good, entertaining summer kick off flick.

I liked "DR. STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS". It was a fun roller coaster through realities flick. My Siskel & Ebert is THUMBS UP

But "SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME" is a much better film than Multiverse of Madness.

"DSITMOM" is definitely one of those movies best seen in the theater on a big movie screen.

If you want to go see it before it vamooses from theaters, make it so.

Saw it on Saturday. I agree with most of the criticism, but I still enjoyed it more or less.

It was better than Thor: Dark World, Incredible Hulk, and Captain Marvel. I haven't seen Eternals but based on what I've heard I assume it's better than that too.
