Shit! Straight from the horses mouth! The B'ham NBC station just had an interview with Mal Moore, the U of Alabama's AD. They're going to offer Saban an 8 year contract worth $40 million PLUS signing bonus.
Well, OU will get it's chance to uphold the honor of the Big 12 tonight against a team that, while undefeated, played a schedule of 3 & 4th-tier teams. Of course, that just sets the stage for Boise to pull the upset. It's the biggest game in their school's history, a chance for them to prove they belong with the big boys. For OU, a school accustomed to annually competing for the national championship, it's just another meaningless bowl game in a season marred by scandal and injuries. Mainly, I want OU to win because Boise plays on that idiotic blue field that I was forced to endure last night when I watched a few minutes of the Miami game. Nebraska-Auburn should be a good game. USC-Michigan, a.k.a. the Whiner Bowl. All we'll hear from the announcers through the entire game is how either one of these teams should be playing in the title game instead of Florida.
If OU wins, their season would have to be considered a remarkable success. In other news: Former Oklahoma State football star, Darrent Williams was shot and killed this morning, in Denver. This was just hours after Williams played in the season final for the Denver Broncos. Report
What a terrible 24 hours for the Broncos - miss the playoffs by losing on your home field to a bad 49's team, then this....
I remember watching Darrent play at Lewis Field. Some sorry motherfucker just pulled up and riddled his limousine with bullets. Apparently he'd had a fight with someone in the nightclub. Obviously with the wrong someone. 24 years old. In other less important matters in light of that, what the bloody devil is happening to the Sooners? They shouldn't be down 18 to Boise State. It isn't Boise State winning--it's OU imploding with turnovers.
Boise isn't winning on their own? That first TD that set the tone for the ballgame had nothing to do with turnovers. Give Boise some credit, they're fast and the tackle really well, I wish we had their defensive coordinator, whoever he is. That last INT was due to tremendous pressure on Thompson, and the fumble was because the Boise players knocked the ball from his hands.
Well, yes, I didn't mean they didn't deserve any credit--but OU could be doing better. They've made their share of bad mistakes in this game. At least they just scored.
Boise State is doing just fine on their own. They are proving that the Big XII is absolute crap this year.
That was the old statue of Liberty play, wasn't it? Holy crap. Oh my, the sports talk radio shows around here are going to be interesting tomorrow. Poor Stoops. He'll never hear the end of this.
The Hook and Lateral, and then the Statue of Liberty. That guy just made Bob Stoops, and every other coach in Division 1 Football, look like a Neandrathal.
Stoops did such a fantastic job to get them through losing the starting quarterback and losing Peterson for 7 games. I really am having a hard time fathoming that they lost this game. OU overcame every adversity possible this season. What happened? Everything told me that they wouldn't lose. Great coach or no, Stoops is going to get the "can't win the big one" rep. Boise State deserved the win, but poor Stoops is going to get crucified. I guess Oklahoma just doesn't play well after long lay offs.
I can't believe what I just watched... How'd you like the reporter screwing up that guy's proposal to the cheerleader at the end?
How come every time Oklahoma loses it isn't that the other team beat them, it's that they somehow gave the game away? Stoops may have done his best coaching this year, but he went to the well one time too many and came up dry. Boise State beat them fair and square. Good for them! The WAC and Mountain West were good this year - Boise St, Hawaii, BYU and TCU could give anyone a game. So the question comes were do you rank Boise State at the end of the year? The top 5 seems to be a lock, don't you think? Oh, and as for the Whinner bowl, for USC you need to take out the H. USC blew their chance when they lost to UCLA. But they proved they could play with anyone when they beat a Wolverine team that almost everyone picked to rout them. Beat them soundly, I might add. As much as I like Lloyd Carr as a person, I hope this finally shows him the door. He's 1-5 against archrival Tressel and OSU, he has lost his final two games three years in a row, and he's lost his last 4 bowl games. This with some of the best talent in college football. He needs to go.
