I've only eaten at one of the "new" locations there (the one on the south side of CS, near the Texas Avenue and highway 6), but it and the "old" location (right across from the main campus entrance--it's a mexican place now) are way better than the one here--and the one here is run by one of my cousins and her husband! A few years ago, before we got a location here, whenever I'd find myself on assignment in or around B/CS, I'd buy an igloo cooler and bring back 200-300 wings (I used to work with several Wings 'n More addicts) and they tasted better after a 3-hour trip than the wings from our local franchise taste after a 5-minute trip from the restaurant to my house. I like them "extra wet" and for some reason the sauce on the ones here tends to separate before I can get them home. Damn college kids. I was lucky if I could afford to eat there once a quarter--in 1990 dollars!
I remember the one you're talking about I think. It was on Texas a little ways down from Alfred T Hornback's Bar. That is the one that moved to University out by Highway 6 in the new Restaurant row they have going.
Tex, you guys need to take one for the team tommorrow so that Fran stays in the conference. Aggies 28, Raiders 24
Thanks alot Tex, now the Aggies will get a real coach. At least we're sure to keep Callahan in the conference for a another year, eh Techman.
Maybe...I hear they are building gallows in Lincoln. He puts on another dismal showing like Kansas, and they'll be testing ropes, next.
Kind of a boring week in college ball, except for USC being exposed by Washington St. The big road tests for Ohio St. and Michigan turned into routs. And Missouri is 5-0!
Seriously, I don't know what it is with me this year, but I've been somewhat bored with the whole thing so far. Maybe it's just seeing the same teams at the top of the rankings year after year after year. Not that it's really any different in basketball. But at least with the NCAA tournament, you can have some upstarts and Cinderellas, some mid-majors who can at least make it to the Sweet 16. You can have at least some level of variety, even if you do have to suffer through yet another season of Duke and North Carolina at the top of the polls.
Generally the term 'exposed' is used when you actually lose the game... You know, like Oklahoma was exposed when they lost to Oregon. SC won a tight game against a decent team. They didn't play particularly well, not getting a sack or a turnover until the last play of the game. And they still won. The 99 yard, 8 1/2 minute drive in the second half was a thing of beauty. Injuries are catching up to USC, so an undefeated season might be too much to ask for - they lost 3 FBs!!!, Jarret is out for a few weeks, their #3 reciever McFoy is out, their top DE has played with a strained groan all year, and they've lost 2 of their 4 starting DBs for the season. At this stage #2 to #4 is probably too high, more on potential for the young team that could be rather than where they are now. Still, 11-1 or 10-2 in a rebuilding year sounds very doable. At the moment I think if they win the PAC-10 they'd probably get beat by either Michigan or Ohio State. But they should be favored in every game until then.
Yeah, things have been a bit predictable this year, although with Notre Dame losing, it has lessened the hoopla, thankfully. There appears to be noone coming out of left field, though. Missouri looks to win the North, I enjoyed the NU/KU game, as it was two mediocre teams going at it. At least OSU gets some North teams on the down swing this year, we always seem to cycle what ever North team is playing well at the time. "Well" is a relative term as the North blows.
"Exposed" is used just as often in reference to a team that struggles against another team that they should overpower and defeat handily. As for OU, the only thing that was exposed was the incompetence of the officiating and how desperate, mid-level teams will do anything and pull anything to defeat a traditional power in order to make a name for themselves.
No one coming out of left field? Maybe not, but there are plenty of undefeated teams that have a chance to run the table. Louisville and West Virginia were supposed to be good, but don't come from traditionally dominant programs. And there are three top ten teams like Notre Dame, California and Miami that have been 'exposed' with crushing defeats. Auburn and USC both stuggled against average teams they should have beaten handily (they were both 3-1 going in, but had been beaten soundly by other top 20 teams). At this point my top ten would be: 1. Ohio State 2. West Virginia 3. Michigan 4. Louisville 5. Florida 6. Auburn 7. USC 8. Georgia 9. LSU 10. Texas Missouri at 5-0 would be in the middle of the next ten - 5-0 is impressive, but they haven't beaten a quality opponent yet.
As much as it pains me, I cannot argue that SC should slip down a few notches. Their last couple of games, while wins, weren't 'top 5 team' quality play.
The problem with college ball is that 4 weeks into the season there's no suspense. We already know who's going to be playing for the national championship - that was decided before the season began. Ohio St. was annointed #1, and nothing short of a loss will knock them from their perch. Who they will play is the only question mark. Basketball is somewhat predictable in that way as well, but at least Duke has to go out and win it's games on the court in the tourny to earn it's spot in the championship game. All Ohio St. has to do is avoid losing.
...as several people have pointed out already...Missouri is 5-0!!!!! Assuming no let-downs against either Nebraska or Iowa State, the North is theirs! :slice:
Holy crap that was a good game... I was surrounded by pissed off people in maroon when we scored that last touch down. I was the only one near by jumping up and down cheering. Oh it was great! Ash of course, was devastated, not really though, he saw it coming. We have Missouri next weekend in Lubbock, I'll be at that one too. I think we're gonna take'em out.
Stay out of the Lubbock bars next Friday night, Tex will be on a Red Raider Rampage, and he's had several months now to perfect his Vulcan Choke Hold.
Say good bye to that perfect record now. And then of course comes the losses at A&M and OU. Finally, when Nebraska has their way with you as well, say goodbye to an appearance at the Big XII Championship game.
The only good thing about Missouri is that they can be good without us having to hear about Brad "I wish I was Vince Young" Smith this year. Oh and which one is Ash?
Yeah, but for the next 2-3 years you'll be hearing about Chase "my own Texas teams did not recruit me and now I'm a Heisman trophy candidate" Daniel.
Son of a bitch! I knew this would come up eventually! Another embarrassment courtesy of the Corps. I won't try to explain or excuse this. It's the Corps. They're not only retarded, but their queer as well.
This weekend in the conference, Mangino eats Fran, Mack smacks Stoops, and we Poke the Mildcats. Oh, and Tech gives the Kittens a big Big 12 South howdy down in Lubbock.
