Too bad, either fix the system or deal with the fact that decent teams going undefeated in a BCS conference = a shot at the title.

I have no doubt in my mind that the SEC is far and away the best conference in college football right now, but KU is in a BCS conference and if they can pull off an undefeated season they deserve to go to the championship.

At least my team never tricked my into thinking we were in it. Sorry Flow, I have to pull for KU tonight. I want them to make the national championship to expose the BCS.

Er... so how will this expose the system more than the undefeated SEC Champion (and clearly best team in the nation :innocent: ) getting locked out in '04?

If they win they win, then they're my team after tonight.

Oh, and how will them making the NC game expose the BCS? They'd be the Big XII champion.

If Kansas runs the table, they are in. Undefeated, and they'd have to knock off two top 10 teams in Missou and Oklahoma to do the job.

Personally, I doubt it, but if they win out, they will go.

Clearly the best team in the Nation?

Yeah, that 16-13 throttling of Virginia Tech decided in the final two minutes will surely go down as one for the ages. :P

If only they had beaten USC the year before at home, when they were ranked #5 in the Nation, when USC shut them out 23-0, there wouldn't have been the clear perception across the nation that they weren't as good.

Oh well, at least they got voted a share of the national championship in the AP poll... oh, wait, no, they didn't.

    Coaches poll? Nope. Sportsline? No...

Well, they certainly will always be #1 in their fan's hearts! :soholy:

Because the Bix XII is bad, a tourney would prove that, but the Big XII champ getting beat 77-0 by LSU in the title game would certainly expose the joke that is the BCS.

Of course, we get it to within five points, we hold Kansas for a stop, but commit a penalty to keep their drive alive and they score.

Of course. Why the fuck do I come back for more punishment with these Cowboys? Would someone please tell me why I do that? We always get close and then pull some stupid shit. :jayzus: We have the talent but we cannot get our shit together.

Sorry the BCS was exposed in 2001 when Nebraska went to the title game despite not even playing in their conference title game. It's already a joke, no further proof is needed.

And shootER, we have no defense, I've accepted it.

The only travesty I see here is Texas Tech, a squad that never met a defense it was interested in learning to play.

Defense wins championships. Tell me the last time a run & gun, pass-happy, "we'll just outscore you" team won a title in I-A or the NFL. The Rams? And even they had a decent defense that year.

Run & gun doesn't even work in basketball the majority of the time. How many titles have the Phoenix Suns won?

Tech needs to be less worried about the refs, and more worried about recruiting defensive players and hiring a defensive coordinator that can keep teams from scoring 60 on them.

I agree. Leach needs to go. I'm tired of 7-5 and 8-4 seasons. Even if you give Tech the 7 points (both the TD's taken back were on the same drive so it's not a 14 point swing) and take away the obvious Texas out of bounds TD from the first quarter, Tech doesn't win this game.

Time to stop blaming the refs and start blaming yourself, coach.

Tech will not be recruiting stud defensive players in our lifetime. Tech is in Lubbock. Trying to get big time studs from Dallas and Houston to go there is the most difficult recruiting job in the conference. Hell, they don't even recruit big time players on offense. Leach just does a tremendous job of identifying little known players to fit his system.

    From Pat Forde's column today.
It's good stuff, a nice run down of the Big 12 this year.

Yet another number 2 team fell tonight as Oregon lost to Arizona. That's like the 5th or 6th one this season to go down. KU is next if they survive this weekend with Mizzou they will be #2. Then of course they'll have OU barring a major series of strange upsets in the Big XII.

Check the calendar, Tex. The MU/KU game isn't tomorrow, it's a week from tomorrow. Mizzou is at K-State tomorrow.

However, Oregon's loss does bring up a question for me.... Assuming Mizzou, KU, and Oklahoma all win out, there is no doubt in my mind that Mizzou beats Kansas on Nov 24th.

My question is, would it be better for the Tigers to win by a small margin (say 7-10 pts) or absolutely kick the Jayhawks collective ass all over the field (for illustrative purposes, call it 21+ pt win)?

See, on one hand, an annihilation of KU would verify in some minds the thought the Jayhawks are vastly overrated and have simply played a creampuff schedule. It would play up KU's overratedness, not Mizzou's strength.

So as much as I'd like to see the Tigers open a severe can of Whoop-Ass on the Jayhawks, I'm thinking it might be better for them to just win by 7-10 points. Might serve them better.

Of course, then they'd likely get the Sooners in the Big XII Championship game, so I imagine they'd have to knock off two #2's in a row, but hey, it could happen!

So I'm thinking we're looking at either an LSU/OU or LSU/MU national championship game! :D

It figures. If ASU can beat the Trojans, the only thing that will stand in the way of a Rose Bowl appearance will be the UofA Wildcats. Seems like every time ASU is having a good year, the hated Wildcats knock them off at the end of the year.

Heaven, or the Wolverines. Doesn't matter which, I'm not picky.

O ya! Georgia beats Kentucky 24-13 in the last confrence game of the year

On the playoff watch, TN is loosing to Vandy 24-9:cool:

(if TN wins this Vandy game and there game next week against KY they'll go face LSU in the Confrence Championship, since UGA has already won its game, of they loose either, it'll be a LSU/UGA game)

But, with 3 minutes on the clock in the 3rd, Vandy is winning

    all is good

Game of The Year: Mizzou vs. Kansas, for the right to face mighty Oklahoma and a once in a lifetime chance at the national title game. :soma:

    M-I-Z!
    Z-O-U!

I didn't make any kind of bet with Tex over tonight's game. I guess if Tech pulls another bullshit upset down there on craptastic officiating, I'll agree to go to church tomorrow at Rhema Bible College with Tex's fundie brother. :(

I don't think they'll need any special help on this one.

Soon will begin the longest 4th quarter of Tex's life. :bergman:
