Well, it'll be tempting for some to blame tonight's Sooner loss on Bradford being knocked out, but.... Truth is, OU once again came out flat and uninspired. You keep waiting for them to shift it into a higher gear, and the longer you wait, the more it becomes apparent that OU doesn't seem to have that higher gear. Talent is rarely OU's problem. But they frequently lack a sense of urgency. Some teams come out and you can tell they're excited to be playing. OU routinely come out and sleepwalks. Just like tonight. The Sooners are watching their national title hopes swirl down the toilet, yet they seem unfazed. Despite their #4 ranking, OU simply isn't a championship team this year. The loss at Colorado, the struggle to barely escape a pathetic Iowa St., a flat performance vs. Baylor, and now tonight's debacle - championship teams perform better than this. Oh well. OU will be back next year, most likely as the preseason #1. And they can still play the role of spoiler against either Kansas or Mizzou in the Big 12 title game. Somebody needs to beat Kansas before they embarras the conference in the BCS title game against LSU.
Not gonna happen. That was clearly a TD, yet the refs once again don't seem to be interested in making the right call. It was OU's last chance.
No one had control. Sorry. Oh and I predict OU wins in the last three minutes because Leach is incapable of running out the clock.
I have just spoken to Tex, and while unable to post at this time, he would like me to pass on his sincere condolences to Flashlight and the rest of the Sooner Nation. Again, that was Tex, not me.
He had control of the ball, his foot came down in bounds, it was a touchdown. Period. Whether they actually end up tying the game and forcing overtime is highly doubtable, but Tech displayed it's usual ineptitude in managing the clock towards the end. Oh well, back to watching ESPN dedicate 50% of their show to blathering on about how Ohio St. - Michigan is the greatest football rivalry of all time....
That is the truth, that was hell as OU pulled it down to a small 7 point win. Right up until we recovered their onside kick attempt I was on the edge of my seat.
The evidence was not irrefutable. Period. You can't tell if there was control or not and that as they say, is that. I'm going to ride this win all the way to next season when we have to play in Norman again and receive our payback for knocking you out of the National Championship.
You know as a sooner fan, I should hate that they lost, but come Monday morning I'm going to enjoy not hearing some of my more annoying 7th graders talk about the potential for a national title game. (I know I know it's low of me, and petty, to get enjoyment out of this.) I've gotten tired of hearing about title games where we don't show up to play and shouldn't have been in the game anyways. We need a playoff.
All you're going to hear is "we got robbed, that was a touchdown!!!!" Win or blame the refs is the Sooner way. (not that I can say much given Mike Leach's recent case of foot in mouth) I guess there is one thing to say though, scoreboard.
Tex, yes there are some who are like that, but not all of us. And sometimes it's a legit grip on the ref's, but in the end OU, in this game could have played better. Don't put me in your stereotypical sooner fan category, it just looks bad on you man. *If you weren't doing that, sorry but it sounded like you were.
Which is something I freely admitted in my earlier post. OU came out flat, uninspired, and lacked any discernible sense of urgency. Yes, Bradford went out in the first quarter, but OU should have still been able to win using their running game. This is a Tech defense that hasn't stopped anyone all year long and gave up 59 to Texas the week before.
USC leads ASU 17-14 at the end of the 1st quarter. ASU started a bit shaky but they seem to be getting it going now. Too bad the Devils can't run the ball right now.
Oh yes- our PLAYOFFS start tomorrow...ya know...PLAYOFFS...top 16 teams...single elimination and all that, and a real championship game, played by two teams who actually had to earn the privilege. That post was free since today is a holiday and both Delaware teams play each other for the first time tomorrow.
The highlight of the day was Eric Cartman giving the run down on Colorado's starting lineup today. "He's got more interceptions than Boulder has hippies. And Boulder has a lot of hippies..."
Well, Nebraska's season is mercifully over, after giving up another 65 points to Colorado in a 65-51 loss. And Nebraska led the game 35-24 at half. LSU is losing to Arkansas 14-6 at the moment. The Armageddon at Arrowhead may be for the #1 ranking
With A&M up on Texas at the moment OU may get their spot in the Bix XII championship locked in. That is bad news for KU and Mizzou. As I typed that A&M faked a field goal and scored again... 17-0. I think they need a 24 point lead going into the 4th to be safe, and right now it's still before the half.
LSU goes down in triple overtime again, losing to an unranked team at home on senior day. I hope WVA wins out, cause I don't want to see Ohio State in the national championship game again.
Woooooow......so tomorrow Mizzou-KU game is for a spot in the Big XII title game, a shot at the BCS national title game, and the #1 ranking now that LSU has gone down to Arkansas. Let the Armageddon at Arrowhead begin!
Par for the course in the SEC. Now the team that is playing the best (Georgia) probably won't even make it to the SEC Championship.
Okay, now here's hoping Oregon bites it. SC can still take the PAC-10 if that happens and we whip UGLY's ass next week, which I'm sure we will. UGLY aka UCLA = University of Completely Lost Assholes, or University of Caucasions Lost among Asians. Take yer pick.
Without Dixon, there's a pretty good chance UCLA or Oregon State will take down the Ducks. Then it depends on whether or not OSU gets back into the national title game as to who USC plays. I'd be very happy with a USC-OSU Rose Bowl. And Texas A&M beats Texas for the second year in a row! Weird, weird year!
