If a promise is meaningless, why even make it?
It speaks volumes that you'd make a meaningless promise "in a heartbeat".
What does Jesus think of that?
Is he giving that a thumbs up, and a nod?

    "Anyone who ever lies"

    !=

"Someone who insists that there can never be any serious concern about telling lies when speaking a life-deciding oath".

If he swears to God, and they know he doesn't believe in God, how can they trust him to stand by the oath? :bailey:

Especially that pesky part of the Air Force enlistment oath that says "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States." People who don't think much of oaths really dislike that part.

If the Air Force enlistment oath is merely mindless nonbinding ritual then it has no reason to exist in the first place; on the other hand, if it's intended to be taken to heart then the idea that people should be required to lie as part of the oath is utterly ridiculous and invalidates the concept of it being an oath.

The oath of enlistment is nothing more than tradition.

The binding part comes into it with all those papers you signed prior to taking the oath.

It's kinda like getting married. The person conducting the wedding doesn't actually have to say or do anything, just sign some papers.

Then why are the churchy people so up in arms to keep gay people from performing this meaningless ritual?
    It means something to somebody.

I dunno, ask the churchy people, I'm not one.

I just don't hyperventilate and spaz over the mention of "God" anywhere in gov't.

Yep, and that's the only reason there can ever be.
An atheist can't legitimately give a shit about the rest of the oath.
    They just can't.
    Because you say so.

    All hail Archangel. :happytears:

I'm sorry if grandstanding attention whores and opportunistic agenda pushers don't impress me or give me the vapors. You'll just have to go ahead without me.

Because the way to fight an enemy that wants to indoctrinate or kill you, is with a fighting force that wants to indoctrinate or kill you.

Why can't you fucking Christians just realize how much you have in common, and become Muslim already?
    Just do it.
    You want to so bad.

Hey Dicky....did you know most naval ships still do an evening prayer before taps? The Chaplain does it over the 1MC (ship wide announcing system).
