I don't give a damn about the requirment, I just dislike pompous douchebags waging their war against Christianity (and don't bother saying it's not), they wouldn't dare go one any of these crusades against another religion...hell, they cheer on the so called "satanists" poking christians in the eye. EDIT: Actually I suspect their little jihad against Christians is a way for them to attack their political opponents. Christians tend to be heavily conservative/Republican, and most of those crusading against them tend to be strong liberals. And we know in todays red vs. blue politics, anything that can be used against the other team is fair game.

The people cheering for the Satanists are doing it because those Christians engaging in such tactics are trying to wax pious, while being hypocritical, sneaky bastards. They'll use the clarion call of "prayer should be allowed in schools" as a stance on freedom of religion. Their stances change, though, when another religious group feels the same way. Suddenly religious freedom has taken on a different meaning, and we get to the heart of their original intent, which is "only our religion's prayer should be allowed in schools," and so it's not "freedom of religion," but "freedom to push my religion on you."

As for myself, I do want things to be equal. Prayer in school? Go ahead, but it's on your own time, non-disruptive, isn't lead by any school official during school hours, and it doesn't get you out of science class. Under God in the military? Sure, as a personal, private oath, not as an opportunity by the State to push a religious requirement on you. See, what's nice is this works in your favor as well. Guess what kids? We're going to be observing Ramadan. I hope you're not hungry! Guess what soldier? Jesus loves you, but if you don't love Him, you won't find yourself moving up the promotion chain anytime soon, because we can't trust those who don't believe in the Lord.

I do push against the ones that have proven themselves to be harmful, and for many good reasons, a few I have mentioned above. Congratulations, you have finally said something perceptive. Yes, it's the same logic, and true on each case with the exception of minority controlled societies like apartheid era South Africa. In a democracy, the system is designed according to the needs of the majority. We have a better chance of breaking free from the race problem, since successive generations see less and less meaning in the skin color distinction. But as long as people believe in righteous religions, one that enjoys a majority cannot be oppressed, regardless of what your paranoia tells you.

I'll cite an instance: Back when I was still in high school, someone once called me a nigger lover*, because my best friend was black. Also, I had a crush on the Captain of the volleyball team, who was also black. That was the extent of my discrimination, and it bothered me then (and still does) that such racism existed. That's right, my example is of me, a white guy, being called a racial epithet by another bunch of white guys, about a black guy.


*I'm sorry for using that word. I hate that word, but I wanted to drive the point home.

I got called nigger by some trailer trash looking mongoloid in 8th grade. I could have started a scene and acted offended, except I regarded him as much as a trail of ants in my yard. Less so, since ants serve a purpose in this world and this guy probably has a rap sheet that's longer than an Asyncrittus post by now.

That said, I don't see myself as a victim. I can't do much about a lot of the systematic racism that still exists, but at least there are not so many roadblocks for me to better myself and rise above the stereotypes. I refuse to eallow in self pity as the rest of my family has chosen to do.

Plus advancement is a bitch these days. Airmen have one test a year. Seems like if you aren't a brainy book type, your Chair Force career will be pretty short.

I suppose that could be right. The air force does not make rank as fast. I was in 5 years and had just got a line number for E5. That was the first rank we tested for and I made it my first time testing. I got out before sewing on E5 because my number had not come up yet. E4 was senior airman but after a year you went to NCO school and became Sergeant still E4. I have heard that Sgt (Buck Sargent) does not exist any more.
