    Saw it.

Not as bad as the reviews would have you believe. Not as good as I would have hoped.

I liked the nightmare vision of earth after having been invaded by Darkseid's parademons, great visuals, even if the scene came out of nowhere with no explanation whatsoever.

I agree that the movie is unrelentingly dour, it cried out for humor, any kind of humor. The joke Superman's mom cracks at the end about how she knows Batman is a friend of her son, you could literally feel the audience strain to hold onto that one brief moment of levity.

Hated, hated, hated Eisenberg's Luthor. He's part Joker, part Jim Carry's Riddler, part Eisenberg's Zuckerberg suffering from ADHD. His psychobabble freudian daddy issues motivation for hating Superman was dumb.

And, now that Lex knows Superman's secret identity and who his mother is, it stands to reason she can never be safe again, right? Same with Lois.

Yeah, Wonder Woman is cool, but nothing about her is ever explained. And WW is not a "meta-human." She's an immortal goddess who battles other mythological gods like Aries. And the shift to WW's theme music when she first appears in costume is really, really jarring.

Aquaman looked stupid. Cyborg's footage was less than impressive. The footage of vaguely ethnic Flash was interesting.

Laurence Fishburn had nothing to do but act like a dick the whole movie. He must have been thinking to himself "damn! When Cavill was still popping pimples and discovering hair growing in new places, I was Morpheus, leader of the human resistance! What the fuck am I doing in this, trying to keep a straight face while telling Clark Kent to cover the local football team rather than doing investigative work on the mysterious Bat vigilante in the city across the lake? Somebody shoot me, please"

    I give it a 6.5 / 10.

I just rewatched MoS. I forgot how great it really is. Clark Kent had been saving people way before he became Superman. He then went on to do his best to save the people of Smallville and protected the military. He even worked with them and gave it everything he had to destroy the world machine. Then while fighting Zod, the buildings were evacuated. The city was evacuating and he only killed Zod because it was the only way to stop him. He was very much a good natured person who cared greatly for mankind. He saved the world, then does it again at great cost to himself in Batman v Superman. I really don't get the bitching.

Pretty much agree on every point.

Perry White was kind of being a dick for no reason. They'd rather have a football story than one on Batman?

That must be the shittiest newspaper on the planet.

I also liked the foreshadowing scene but why was Bruce having visions of the future? How? That was never explained. Anyone not familiar with the imagery would just think he was having a crazy dream. The appearance of Flash babbling incoherently did not help. They could have easily cut that entire scene out. Bruce was having too many dream/flashbacks anyway.

Did we really need to see the Wayne murder again? Jesus. We've already seen it in Batman, Batman Forever, Batman Begins, Gotham, and various animated series. Everyone knows Batman's backstory.

Wonder Woman was probably one of the better parts of the movie but I still don't know why they picked the skinniest chick in Hollywood for the part. Gina Carano would have been perfect. Pretty face, great physique, and can actually kick ass in real life.

The movie is too depressing. All of Zach Snyder's movies are like that. Maybe he needs mental help? Luthor, for me, was the worst part of the movie. Awful casting IMO.

It took way too long to get to the actual showdown. Too much talking and hand wringing. Get to the Batman vs Superman part already!

Because "waaahhh! It's not like Christopher Reeve!!:weep:".

But remember, when Batman '89 came out, it was "waaahhh!! It's not like Adam West!! :weep:".

Warners took too fuckin' long to reboot Superman, they should have done it alongside Batman, people would have been prepared.

Saw it again last night and my opinion of it improved. It has flaws, but it's a masterpiece of the genre.

    Think I'll see it again.

It would be nice to see this Superman save just one cat and say,"Miss Lane" once.

Superman never smiles in this movie. Not once.

Ma Kent tells Clark "you don't owe this world anything."

Oh yeah? That's not Jor-El's message, be a positive example for the world to aspire towards. Where's Spiderman's famous credo: with great power comes great responsibility? That would apply to Superman more than any other hero.

That's just another version of telling young Clark maybe he should have let the busload of kids die.

At least they didn't cop out on Superman being an American, and showed a casket draped in the American flag. Unlike the dipshit comic that saw Superman renounce his American citizenship. :dayton:

Bottom line - send Zack Snider and David Goyer packing. They don't understand the characters. Get somebody that knows how to put some fun back into the proceedings.

Oh, and get rid of Eisenberg. Fuck, that was awful. At the very least, pay Bryan Cranston anything he wants to play Daddy Luthor and restore some dignity to the character.

I know Darkseid is the next big bad, but they really need to give us Braniac at some point.

    You counted them!

And two out of three are because something bad is about to happen to someone else. That's not Clark Kent, that's Granny Weatherwax.

Just got back from it, and just got done repping the spoiler posts as needed.

    Quick thoughts-
    Liked it.
Probably going to see it again.
Sensory overload like MoS, so its taking time to process.
I echo Paladin, fuck the critics.
I kinda see what they mean about the editing, but the critics blew it way out of proportion, they acted like the movie was run through a blender on frappe, I was able to keep up with the story just fine.
Can't wait for the WW and Bats solo films.
Only gripe I had was the slow burn to get to the fight. Way too long and talky. That could have been trimmed.

I liked the slow burn, it helped develope everything. It's almost like Snyder wanted to do some story telling and it's pretty much how MoS played out as well.

It made a bunch on opening weekend, which was expected. A lot of those tickets were pre-sales through Fandango and other such places.

The real test will be to see if it has legs and what the dropoff will be for weekend #2. Will anyone remember this flick by the time we get to May 6 and Civil War? If this thing only ends up doing Deadpool money, it will justifiably be viewed as a massive failure, given the expectations.

Just sat down to watch this, and once again my favorite seat and no one else in the theater, so that's awesome. I'll let you guys know what I should be allowed to think about the movie without others trying to tell me what I should think about the movie.
