You have got to see this actual gamePlay footage. It looks like a documentary or something! [YT="Battlefield 3"]uA378g_gD1I&feature=youtube_gdata_player[/YT] I think I just came a little! The way the colors bleed across textures and surfaces is unlike anything in video games... And the sound is phenomenal! Just when I was thinking that military shooters are dead, EA drops this on me. I'll have to keep an eye out for this one!
The in-game graphics are fuckin' crazy good. But Skin is really hoping they haven't ditched vehicle combat, because if they have, they've just dropped what made the Battlefield series distinguishable from Call of Duty and Ghost Recon.
Wow, pretty effin incredible. I was a big fan on 1942, 2142, and Vietnam. Didn't play 2, my guess based on that footage is I'll need an upgraded graphics card to play 3! Nice sneak peak, thanks
Fault Line Part II: Good Effect On Target [YT="Battlefield 3 Fault Line Part II"]RmowUGJ0hgs&feature=youtube_gdata_player[/YT] Dude... I've never been shot at by a .50 cal sniper rifle while in a city, but if I had, that's pretty much what it has to sound like. The graphics and colors engine has to be the most advanced one in the markt today. I'm just amazed. This is going to be the most stunning video game as far as asthetics go of all time.
Caspian Border Multiplayer gameplay: [YT="Caspian Border"]NDDfPxF3EFE[/YT] Damn, this game is something special. I think I'm going to play this on PS3 and PC just for contrast. Off to Best Buy to buy a controller for my laptop.
Anybody else playing the free beta? I used to be better at these kind of games, though I haven't FPS'd in a couple of years. And that was Counter-Strike 1.6
My last FPS was also Counterstrike. Haven't really touched one since. It looks great, but I'll probably skip this one.
You really a decent PC to play this one. I thought my PC was top notch but using the systems testing tool at one of these game websites my PC's processor and GFX card just about qualified under the recommended requirements for this game.
Here you go, test whether your system can handle Battlefield 3! http://www.yougamers.com/gameometer/10482/ Best to use Firefox for this, IE and Chrome are a bit crap with it (was for me at least). I tested Rage by id and my specs obliterate the game so I was shocked when it just barely managed to stand up to BF3!
Did any of you play the open beta? I believe it expired at midnight last night. I got some good time in over the weekend. It was very enjoyable, and I wish they had done some of the Metro stations I was familiar with from my time in Paris so I could see how close to reality the world is. The suppressing fire is nothing short of revolutionary, just as everyone thought it would be, but they will have to tune things differently: I can get more points playing wingman and suppressing with a few hits while my buddies make the kill than I can get for a direct kill.
I played a little bit last night. The graphics are good, but I can't say I was blown away by the gameplay. I'm wondering whether to wait for Modern Warfare 3. Unfortunately, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive won't be out until next year.
Played it on PS3... It was running at 30 FPS... Xbox wasn't any better. I'm seriously thinking about jerry-rigging a controller and getting the PC version for this game.
Suppression fire sounds like a great mechanic. I'm all for them finding more and better ways to reflect real world tactics.
This was a free, open demo, playable by anyone. So he probably just downloaded it twice, one for each version.
You shouldn't need to rig a controller- most modern games for PC allow for the use of an XBOX style controller. My son thinks my FPS control setup on the PC is weird as hell. I map the standard control key setup into my X-52's joystick, buttons, and hats and use the mouse with my left hand. Works like a champ! (For me..)
I am looking forward to this like no game in a long time. I think squad based strategies will have the potential to truly flourish. NOT impressed with EA's server uptime.
I know a few people who are upgrading their computers just to play this, including yours truly. I haven't been this excited about a game since...well...Battlefield 2!
They claim we can pay at 10 and hold onto our game but not leave the store. That does not sound legal (the kidnapping part).
