That seems reasonable. Well, I think the current game will be ending at that time. Nick said it would take him a couple of hours to set up a new game.
When other people have been in the same situation they spoke up about it to let the admin know. It's been well established that any duals (detected through the ip address) would be kicked out and you had four accounts from the same address without bringing it up. Big universe is good, having more people on each planet is good but it tends to prompt people to have smaller home sectors that are more easily able to defend themselves. For what it's worth, while I don't think he would cheat as such, I think Nick making changes without discussion to a game he himself is going to be playing, and that will require changes to strategy is a bit of a dodgy situation. Even if you've already made your mind up it would be nice to at least tell us the new rules so we have time to formulate strategies as well.
I think that we should increase the size of the galaxy and reduce the size of the max population on the planets
No, not really. But I will tell you in advance what I plan on changing. Since people basically won the game with interest the last two games, I decided its time to force a few people (namely myself and elwood) to have to change our strategies. Banking interest will be lowered to 0.015%, and planet interest will be lowered to 0.03%. Planetary populations will be either 500 million or 1 billion, forcing players to actually spend longer time dedicating themselves to nurturing their planets. The values of the various cargo will be altered, forcing people to rethink their trading strategies, those values I haven't decided yet. And finally, the universe will be re-expanded to 5000 sectors, it was far too easy for people to catalogue the universe. By forcing people (namely myself and Elwood) to rethink their strategies, it allows balance in the game.
10,000 sectors would be even better. I must say that I do like the fact that you talk about needing to limit yourself and Elwood when right now you are at the bottom of the rankings.
For everyone wanting a 10,000 sector galaxy, 5k is the maximum limit, as is 5 planets per system. I'm ok with the other stuff, and I shudder to think what'll happen when star systems with 5 billion people are up and running.
Thanks to a Federation tow, I found 5 of Gomez's planets and his ship, but his EWD kicked in after I finished conquering his planets.
Well, I salute the idea, Nick, but I just don't understand how changing the trade amounts accomplishes what you're suggesting. Right now, everyone knows the most attractive trade pairing is Ore>Goods. If you change things, it seems to me that then only you (and soon any allies you choose to tell) will be the only ones who know the most attractive trade pairing, while everyone else will have to sort it out for themselves. Alternately, you could tell everyone off the bat what the trade amounts have been set to, but then that defeats the whole purpose of changing the values. (Unless you have a way to randomly reset the values.)
I just scanned through the post, and now I have a question. Having two accounts from one ip adress is cheating/dual? The reason I ask is my old man wants to sign up next round, and I dont want to be terminated for that.
Well i will be in next round, and possibly my old man, he is the Devil Dog account on wordforge..... so there you know!
I think i mentioned this before, but i dont think anything can be done about it. Is there any way on the planet status report menu to get a 'select all' button for 'take credits'? Its a right pisser clicking in 80 seperate boxes every time i want to get some cash
No, but there's an option in the IGB under "Transfer" to consolidate all your planetary cash to a single world, then you collect it via a planetary transfer. You pay a transfer fee, but it uses far less turns than the "Collect Credits" option does.
Not true, it does not take long to find out what good trading partners make. You only have to find one of each port and do some math.
Dan has a valid point though. He is saying there is a point in the game where burning turns is more acceptable than giving up 5% of your transfered cash.
Well then click on the damn worlds. As with everything in this game, do something the hard way and it gets you more.
This point is usually quite a ways before you've managed to create and adequately defend 80-odd planets, though.
Nick - given the planets (and presumeably ore/organics/goods output) will be bigger, how about increasing the maximum amount traded at ports?
I'd be happy with that. You reach the point where trading isn't really useful way too early if you're on the ball. I practically stopped once I had about 25-30 worlds churning out credits and was getting a whole lotta banking interest. The limit on planetary and banking interest would help make trading useful again in the later stages of the game, but ports can be cleared out in about 10-15 runs with a Level 26 hull. Although that would force players to be more protective of profitable trade routes...
Well, I think it's a good idea, the game is called Black Nova Traders after all, not Black Nova Interest Gatherers.
Can anyone think of a L to add in there? Then we would be BLING! Tie that in with our typical "Lord of the Rings" nerdy ness............and you get:
Or someone could of asked instead of being a fucktard and simply assuming something and taking me out of the game. But it's easier to be an asshole and fuck someone over. I've never seen someone come on here and bring up multiple players from one address. It's funny too, the first time this game was on here (wordforge) I was well ahead of other players, and then I was accused of being a dual as well. So either way I got fucked here, but whatever assholes.
