Can I troll people with their personal information now?

That's what I'm SAYING!

Late night so few notice I'm sure but here's my explanation.

I came in to the RR thread and I read exhaustively, then I've drug myself through this one for hours, and even visited TK which I essentially NEVER do for reference - all BEFORE i came down conclusively on one side of the issue.

While I have seem some interesting comments (mostly from Async) which lean towards the ban....my considered opinion is:


1. that the only reason anyone here's knows 14D's real first name (that didn't already know it) is because he chose revenge over maintaining discretion;

2. That JW's troll did not in fact reveal any personal information, and would have communicated NO connection or new information to the innocent bystander;

3. That the image was essentially irrelevant to everyone except the intended target;

4. That 99.9999% of all first names are essentially useless info in terms of real life consequences anyway;

5. If all these conditions apply to previous disciplinary actions which escaped my notice, I would disagree with those as well;

That being the case - as well as the fact that the genie cannot remotely be put back in the bottle - I briefly assert my solidarity with the majority opinion for a limited amount of time. However, not being a fan of shitstorms, I'll likely change it in a day or two (even though I'm a big fan of the funny man!) but that would not suggest my mind has changed.

what if jamie were trolling some OTHER person with the same first name?

what makes the doc think that he's the only one that jamie trolls?

seems that doc is getting really thin-skinned in his older age.

I can point to one difference - I never pay attention to anyone's sig and in fact don't revcall ever having seen the one that provoked this.

No one - NO ONE - could have missed the "Paul" threads. At least on that level it was far more blatant.


And no, before you say it, I have no particular feelings for JW either way. Hell, strange as it seems, I don't even particularly dislike Garemet - it takes a helluvalot for me to dislike one or two posters more than all others. And there are only a handful that I have a special affection for (as posters - I like most all you mugs as "people" - don't ask me to explain the distinction but there is one to me)
