Well, it's that time of year again, and I've asked Spider if he wants to moderate the game again. I'm just wondering who's interested in it this time around. I really want to try this, but these two look interesting too.
I like the Known World 901, just because of the number of players and the fact that it limits quick empire builders. But like I said, the other two look interesting as well.
Why I won't play that game ever again: When I played it with my frieds we'd always run into stalemates. One stalemate ran nearly two days straight, no exaggeration. We'd gone through a ream of paper and nearly a dozen pencils writing orders. We ended up quitting because the next day was monday and we all had to go to school or work. After that, nobody wanted to play ever again.
I will gladly play, I promise to be good. We can probably get Demi. Lets see: RJHJ, Bailey, Nick, Gul were all in a game at one point or another as well... edit cobalt posted more in Diplomacy than he did anywhere else...
I'd be willing to give it another shot. Can't say I really enjoyed the last game though - I've played plenty of play by email games (and even run a few), but that was the first time I just couldn't get a response from half the people I was trying to talk to. Maybe breath mints would help. I don't want to play an experimental map though. There's plenty of extensively playtested maps out there.

All tested and generally balanced... 'Cept that WWII one.
Are there any good 4 player variants? I'd think the game might be a little lame with 4, but maybe if we play with Neutral powers and Influence?
I'm willing to go with that map, looks pretty interesting for 4 - like the chaos in the middle plus the fact that everyone is pretty well defensible. Edit > Jdip also has a 4 player map called Sail Ho! which looks interesting, if we want to make it a little easier on the GM.
Nick is considering it. Let's all bug him! Seriously though, if we just promoted this game a bit more, and asked people we'd like to play with, I'm sure they would. I mean, how many people come into the Green Room anyway?
Spider has posted that we have four players. I think that more than that have expressed an interest. If the numbers are right, and there is sufficient interest, I will moderate a game of Diplomacy: The Middle East. This game needs only four players. If people would prefer to wait, that's fine. I'm just making an offer, in order to move things along.
I believe so far we have: Chris Spider faisent Demiurge Armalyte Cobalt. If nobody minds Cobalt playing and judging, we can do a six player. That could be a standard map without Italy or something else entirely.
I think that five players is the ideal number for Diplomacy. I have modified the standard map, to support a game for five. You can see the set-up at Diplomacy: The Continent The standard map has seven major powers, 75 provinces and 34 supply centers. The map for this game has five major powers, 54 provinces and 25 supply centers. If you want to play, post in this thread, or send me a PM. You may request a country. In Diplomacy, each year involves five sets of orders: Spring Orders Spring Retreats Fall Orders Fall Retreats Fall Adjustments (Builds and Disbands) We can play one year per week, or one season per week, or something in between. We should try to get started as soon as possible. I will be out of town for one week, early in September.
bumping, just in case people think I'm not ready to crush them under the iron boot heals of my oppressive regime.
