Well, it's good to have heroes. One day you'll learn how to do what they do in 140 characters or less.

    ...one day...

Wint is a hero of humanity

Edit: also it's infuriating and reminds me why I despise Twitter when I can't click on a profile and read more than two fucking Tweets without being bullied into registering an account and blocked from reading anything else.

Good riddance Twitter, the only thing I will miss is @dril.

It’s fun watching a rich, arrogant asshole set his money on fire.

I am enjoying the Kanye meltdown as well.

I have never used Twitter and don’t care what happens to it.

It can be a convenient place to get updates from businesses, organizations or people of interest but you have to wade through tons of garbage, misinformation, and irrelevancy to get to the worthwhile stuff.

If it turns into a right wing dunpster fire I am sure something else will eventually take its place as a more neutral/less extreme source for social media content.

Elon is a sub category of genius known as stable genius. People in the stable genius category are notably not as intelligent as others and prone to throwing their net worth into the dumpster for risky and general business management incompetence due to their toddler sized intellect and ego. Notable stable geniuses are Elon, Trump, and Kanye

@Bill Carson should take note of this in case he wins powerball and pays 2 billion for WF so he can unbann his so called friends Castle and Gturner. The boy can then recover his purchase price with an ad buy from TK after he bans all of his enemies and starts charging UA for his account.

That really hasn't been my experience. I've got a curated (by me) feed of around 150 follows that I find by turns amusing, informative, relatable and educational. Some of them are Blue Jays beat writers (and fellow Jays fans), a few are actors like Alan Tudyk, several are historians (by far the most educational and fascinating cohort), and several are trans related, along with a few journalists.

The only experience I've had with real negativity is the kind that a step off into on purpose (debating a transphobe, sometimes, not to convert THEM to my views but to offer a rational argument for third party readers to consider) and any targeted harassment, such as it is, gets blocked. Yes, one has to be discerning but that's largely handled by being discerning about your follows.

It's my most visited site, and as much as I enjoy watching Elon faceplant, I really would hate to lose it.

Beyond my experience, there are governments, officials, activists, charities and etc can't do what they do on Twitter ANYWHERE else with even 1% of the efficiency. People mock it but it's easily the most vital and irreplaceable social media site online
If such a thing were to pick up the slack in time someone should have already been building it out as soon as the fool made his initial offer. The great failure of Zukerberg's year is that he's blowing through billions on Meta when he could have spent much less to stand up a Twitter analog to scoop up the lost traffic when Elon gets done playing The Joker with it. Not that any of us REALLY want to slide further into Zuck's world but the convenience would be too much to resist.

All that said, there is a certain ironic satisfaction to the idea that Musk got baited into fucking his fortune by people like CatTurd and gives them the right wing dystopia they think they want - while at the same time stripping out all the machinery that keeps it running so that it collapses on the heads of his reactionary buds before they even get to enjoy their troll kingdom.

By the way, one of my follow made a really good point: the reason that sites like Gab and Truth flounder is because the trolls don't have anyone TO trolls - they all agree with each other. Anytime anywhere you set up a truly mainstream site like Twitter, they HAVE to follow along because it's the only place they can find targets for their shit.

This is pretty much it. If you just let whatever the algorithms throw at you be your feed then yeah you're gonna get all sort of junk. However if you follow interesting people and use lists then it can be a really interesting and useful site.
