I don't know anyone who has that attitude - especially not women. Here's the thing with the information age and mass media and social websites. Words never convey feeling. I've always maintained Conservatives and Liberals have much more in common than we have differences. The problem is that mass media tell us "the other guys" are evil and "they're" the problem.

I have, specifically, these two friends on facebook. Two people who know me really well. Both are conservative and post the most insulting things against Liberals. And, when I question their post, instead of thinking of me, and who I am, they immediately go on the offensive and, while they don't say "you", they say "liberals" are evil.

Well, no, we're not. We are normal human beings, just like you. Very few people want abortions. But, most realize that sometimes, what we want and what we can have and what is best for everyone, are not always compatible. and we just have to be able to make decisions based on our own situation.

I meant, it's not "simple" for the woman. It's seldom a simple decision.

Children should be taught firearms safety at an early age.
"No! I don't want my children knowing anything about guns!"

The mystique of "the gun" can be neutralized by taking a child to target practice, with a .22, or even with a BB gun.
"NO! A gun is a gun! I don't want my child touching those evil things!"

Schools can have the NRA's Eddie Eagle Program come and teach the kids gun safety
"The NRA are evil terrorists! I don't want them near my child!! I'll take them out of any school that tries to teach them about guns!"

But Eddie Eagle literally teaches small children to stay away from guns if they find one and call an adult.
"It's propaganda! it's indoctrination via a cute cartoon character! Like Joe Camel!"

A parent can teach a child gun safety at home, under perfectly safe conditions, using dummy guns to illustrate.
"Ick! I don't even want to touch those things or know about them myself!!"

    BANG!
    "Why does this keep happening?!?!"

You think toddlers getting hold of guns and killing someone is because Liberals don't want their children to have guns and do not want gun safety taught in elementary school?

Baby Murder Industry rule #1 - dehumanize the victim. It's not a human being that's literally being ripped limb from limb, it's just a "fetus," or "zygote." Once you convince yourself it's not a human being you're tearing the head off, the guilt fades away.

Rule #2 - hide behind euphemisms. You're not an abortion factory, you're providing "reproductive services." It's not baby murder, it's "right to choose." It's not wholescale slaughter, it's "feminism."

Why does "feminism" always, ultimately, boil down to ghoulish women arguing in favor of the "right" to kill their unborn babies?

Indisputable fact - the jokers here making light of abortion would never have the stomach to take a vacuum cleaner tube and suck a baby out of it's womb, tearing it apart in the process, and then take what amount to garden shears and cut it's spinal cord to make sure it's dead.

I learned gun safety in Boy Scouts. It wasn't a big deal, but we had to learn it before we could do anything with a rifle:shrug:

Classic deflection tactic of regressives: guns are killing kids -- BUT SO ARE ABORTIONS LET'S TALK ABOUT THAT INSTEAD. Ok so let's implement a healthcare system that increases access to preventative birth control measures, thereby reducing -- MY RELIGION SAYS MY TAX MONEY CAN'T BE USED FOR CONDOMS.

In the cases of toddlers not in school, obviously not. There's also admittedly a problem with some gun owners who are too stupid to keep their guns where the toddlers can't get them, or teach safety or avoidance to children who are old enough.

Outside of fundyland it's much more simple.

Basically I'm saying that if women are brainwashed into thinking abortion is some kind of horrible thing, then they feel it is some kind of horrible thing and feel conflicted when circumstances force them to have one. If instead there is no brainwashing and abortion is treated like any other medical procedure then they don't feel conflicted and it is quite simple.

It's not the abortion that causes issues, but how society handles abortions.

The third leading cause? :chris:Way to pick the low hanging fruit, word forge! Guns r' bad......:drama: I get it, I really do!
So let's break this down folks: the first leading cause is illness - no finger pointing here, we'll assume nobody wants a sick kid. Fair enough?
The second is accidents like automobiles and drowning. Are you with me so far?

AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENTS - 90 percent are PREVENTABLE! :drama: Who is driving these kids around, for those too young to drive themselves? :chris:
Ever think of...I don't know....vetting drivers better? Make it harder to get a driver's license?

DROWNING - ever hear of supervising your kids? :drama: Instead of sitting your drunk fat ass down in a pool chair while your kids sink like a rock, keep your fucking eyes open!

Seriously - nice thread topic, but do you want a pat on the back for telling us the THIRD LEADING CAUSE and not addressing the SECOND LEADING CAUSE which (as explained) is PREVENTABLE in many cases? Admit it - you don't give a flying fuck about solving any problems that don't involve slamming gun owners.

Yes, I agree children should be supervised and protected - from cars, swimming locations and guns equally! Any thoughts?

I went to the link and read the information there.

While the title and much of the first written material in it tries to suggest that when it says "children" that it is referring to "toddlers" or extremely young children, in the text you find that is includes "children" up to 17 years old.

I doubt most people when they think of "children being killed by guns" think of 16 and 17 year old -gang members killed in the crossfire of warring drug runners.

yes, it should. The very fucking second you stop driving. Sure you haven't done it yet, but all of you car owners are literally "an accident waiting to happen" so I pity the kid getting in your car. Maybe your decision to buy a car should be revisited. :booty:

But good point on the age categories - a lot of teen criminals shoot the living dog-shit out of each other. Damn Chicago alone accounts for a huge percentage.

So you're in favour of better public education, lunch and breakfast programs,, subsidized daycares, sliding scale tuitions, planned parenthood's family planning services, and about a million other proposals/underfunded resources help kids born into challenging circumstances?

Or do you just wanna confiscate them after forcing women to carry to term against their own interest?
