You still don't get it. It's good that she has executive experience but it's not the sole reason for liking her. Combine that with (the relatively little as of now) what I know of her positions, and then you start to get somebody that's more appealing.

But if that were the ONLY issue, then she'd beat Obama and she's NUMBER TWO on the ticket.

McCain, however, has got Obama beat on the only level of experience that Obama has - in the Senate. The fact that McCain's real-life experience is more compelling and qualifying is even better.

There are two different debates going here. You're jumping back and forth between the two at warp speed and not making any headway on either one.

Oh I see, so now you advocate the rape and assault of women.

    My summary of this thread:

If actormike has such a low opinion of Palin, I guess McCain made the right choice.

It's like having a compass that always points south!

I don't think you know what debate means... but it doesn't rhyme with 'crepe'.

Finally you've hit on something that's interesting and valid. This is where I don't know enough about her to be able to predict. I don't know anything about her debating skills but I do know that Biden's often got a case of foot in mouth disease. We'll just have to see how it develops.

The question of a debate is interesting, though. Will Obama give in and debate McCain? If so, Obama's gonna get his head handed to him.

Boy, it's fun to be ganged up on!

As I've stated before, Obama's lack of experience is a concern for me. But Obama has convinced me that he can do the job, so I'm willing to look past it.

If I were a Republican, I'd be nervous as hell to have a 72 year old president and a VP whose only qualification for her job is two years running a state where you have to pay people to live.

    But I'm not a Republican.

You don't HAVE to pay them, they get that money from the OIL revenue. You know, that black liquid we run our civilization on? Palin knows a fair bit about getting it out of the ground effectively, which is gonna come in handy.

How did he convince you that he could do the job? Or is it that you really believe he's got more in common with your beliefs?

McCain's going to win in a landslide. The past 8 years have told the American people they actually need to pay attention to the VP candidates. Biden gives the heebie-jeebies to anyone who knows anything about him save for the most willfully ignorant (actormike types), and that's going to be a lot more people soon. Biden drags Obama down to his level except at the most superficial level of rhetoric. Thus, McCain only needed someone better than Biden, and boy did he ever get her.

Unless it turns out that Palin is actually a serial killer, or McCain drinks the blood of babies for breakfast (hmm...), Obama is going lose badly. And blame it on racism, of course.

I don't have a low opinion of Palin as a person or governor, other than her rabidly anti-choice record.

I just think she's a bad choice as a running mate.

McCain needed someone to energize the conservative base. He found her.

Not just an inspired choice, but an INSPIRING choice.

McCain may win, but I don't foresee a landslide for him.

This election has a fairly high floor and a fairly low ceiling. I see the outcome ranging somewhere between a modest Obama victory and a narrow McCain victory.

And like I said before, an incumbent Sarah Palin will be seen as a much more likely and formidable rival for Hillary in 2016 than a 74 year old Joe Biden.

I suspect the tepid, cosmetic support the Obama campaign has gotten from Bill and Hillary Clinton will become much more genuine and rigorous now.

McCain could debate a wooden chair and he'd still get creamed.

Apparently you know nothing of Joe Biden. To be much nicer than he deserves, he's a schmuck. The asshole in the brown underpants of government is more like it.

I doubt it. The Clinton's are sore losers.

You know what? My post was about your opinion of her as a running mate. (Though I realize you couldn't have figured that out from the context.)

So if you have such a low opinion of her as a running mate, I guess she must be pretty good, since your opinions on politics and my own are about as far removed from each other as they can be.

On the drug laws subject - she is a confirmed marijuana smoker, but she claimed not to enjoy it.

He's only the VP. Not saying it can't happen, but if the VP candidate makes or breaks a landslide it would be a first.

Since McCain has stated as recently as the past month that he sees the VP spot in the traditional "funerals and daily health inquiries" way, the Obama campaign would be wisest to point that out in an ad in McCain's own voice and otherwise more or less just ignore her altogether.
