The PUMA supports are all wetting themselves over this, thus confirming that their militant support of Hillary was due to a feminist agenda.

Well, I felt the same way about Obama until I started to get to know him. :D

But yes, assuming there's no major issues in the closet, she's going to be in a very good position to become President in later years, unless her ticket gets embarrassed in the upcoming election.

I'm all in favor of learning more about the candidates. I just hope she stands the scrutiny. Of course, Dan Quayle was a young, new-generation conservative and look how far he went.

Yep. They are really freaking. Obama should have chosen Hillary with her 18 million votes over Biden with his 9500 votes.

    Plus she is not Romney.

    Thank God!

McCain made an awesome choice. McCain has been doing great for the last month.

Well why don't you tell that to the idiots on the left who are voting for Obama simply based on his skin color (I've met people like that).

Wow. She's pretty hot. I don't know much about here, but it looks like a good move politically.

Although McCain is doing the same thing Obama did - making up for percieved deficiencies in his own candidacy.

Certainly. And while I'm at it, I'll remind my grandmother that voting for McCain because she likes the ties he wears is also a problem.

My point here is that the PUMA folks can cry foul all they want over the DNC supposedly wanting to elect Obama all along and screw Hillary over, but, in the end, it's not about that for them. They just want a woman in office.

Interesting choice. She's got next-to-no experience, been governor for less than two years, brings no real qualifications to the job, and yet is in many ways a dream candidate for the Right due to her personal beliefs. Politically it's sheer genius, as it instantly puts the disaffected Hillary voters back in play, offsets McCain's age issues, shows boldness, and provides an anti-Biden.

Biden balances Obama by providing the experience and connections that Obama lacks. Palin balances McCain by providing the "outsider" cred to his Washington hack status, youth to his age, and also energizes the conservative base who don't see much to reassure them from McCain.

I think McCain can actually win now.

Holy shit! She played highschool and college basketball, was Miss Congeniality, and her husband's a goddamn eskimo! You couldn't have made a more unlikely VP if you put a dictionary in a blender!

When I first heard about this, I thought it was a very shrewd move, given how pissed off some Hillary supporters still are. But having heard a bit more about her, I can't see many leftish women voting for her - she's too diametrically opposed to what I would expect are many of their cherished ideas.

She's still a good choice as a Republican, though, not only for her views on abortion and guns, but also because of her record in not paying any attention to cronyism and her attitude to corruption. Good way for McCain to distance himself from the Bush years.

Knowing that she's governor of one of the more liberty minded, eccentric states, I'd like to know more about her stance on libertarian issues. We know she's gun and energy friendly, what about gay marriage and drug laws?

It's be nice to see some movement away from those traditional conservative positions in the party.

    Not so sure.

But the polls a week or two from now, once people have had a chance to digest the conventions and get used to the VP choices, will be a good indicator.
