She'd hem and haw just loud enough to get a headline like "Collins concerned about abortion rights" or "Collins wants a robust FBI Investigation" but then a few days later, I'd see her say "Kavanaugh assured me that Roe v Wade is settled law" and The FBI Investigation seems pretty thorough." She had planned to vote to confirm this guy the entire time. She understands her base is moderate and she's probably a thoroughbred conservative playing the middle her entire career.
