No chance at all that maybe it's just not that great of a movie, huh? Absolutely HAS to be just CHUDs not liking the LGBT characters? As for me, I have no idea. Haven't seen it. The second trailer looked good though.
Checking boxes cannot redeem a weak cast and mediocre script. It is not an end unto itself. One day that lesson will sink in.
I want to like this movie. I loved the Eternals as they appeared in the comics, especially when Kirby first created them. But again, gender-swapping characters for no reason other than to check off a box on the Woke scale gives me pause. Big thing I notice in the trailers is that Ikarus using his eye beams looks just like Homelander using his eye beams in The Boys.
There's never a form of inclusion you're happy with. When it's leftists gone silly, you're right there screaming. When it's righties gone fash, you're never there. It's not a Rubik's cube in puzzle complexity. It's a two piece jigsaw puzzle for babies. Click, done.
The ultimate test is: is the movie any good? If it sucks, no amount of diversity casting makes it good. A movie gets no credit for social justice intentions. Like I said, I'm seeing it and I'm hopeful I'll like it. But it either delivers as a movie or it doesn't.
It's extremely telling when some people see a minority or a woman in a film and their first, second, and third thoughts are "Box checking! Wokeness! " as if there's no way anyone who's not a white cis male could ever land a job purely on merit. EDIT: Meanwhile Hugh Jackman is too tall to play an accurate Wolverine and Patrick Stewart never even tries to make Professor X sound like he's from New Jersey, but no one thinks they got the job just to check boxes or to appease the woke.
It's telling you ASSUME that. Almost as though you want to believe it. Are always on the lookout for the faintest whiff of it.
I mean, you could have some amazing 4-D chess reason for never opposing fascism....but man, are you ever playing the long game if you do, cuz...when's it gonna happen? When's the amazing plan gonna happen, and utopia dawns? It's taking awhile. And you can't claim universal apathy, cuz you don't have apathy for leftist activism.
As I said earlier, they need to kill off Shuri's character. This is the perfect opportunity. Shuri gets COVID-19 and dies. They can just CGI the scene where she's gasping for air and croaks. Problem solved. The production can continue filming and another anti-vaxxer gets what they deserve.
Hopefully she's refusing medical treatment for this "injury" since she can't have had time to "do her research" yet.
Everything but "Yes, sir! Right away, sir!" now qualifies you as an "anti-vaxxer." It's been a delightful bit of icing on the pandemic cake that it has given snide, sanctimonious busybodies a new pet hobby.
I think "you're not Peter Parker" and "hello, Peter" are from different points in the movie, and in the latter, Doc-Ock is reacting to Toby.
