That was actually fun. I wish that mission was longer... I loved the UAV control. I got 10 kills with one strike. For the first time, I felt fulfilled (if only for a little bit).
With regards to Spec Ops, it's fun and will provide hours of gameplay... I look foward to exploring it in greater detail. I will say this... Modern Warfare 2is so good, that I will probably never play COD4: Modern Warfare again... However, I will be playing Zombies from COD5: WaW from time to time. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm dissappointed with MW2, I'm not. If I had to do it all over again, I would, sans the all-nighter.
I played special ops for about half an hour last night. Some of those missions seem impossible playing single player.
#MW2 is on fire in Twitter right now. In the first 24 hours of it's release, Modern Warfare 2 sold 4.7 million copies in the US and UK alone making $310 million. This makes it the highest grossing entertainment launch of all time!
Highest grossing movie ever was Titanic. And that's not even considering inflation since 1997. Just sayin'!
I'll be waiting for this to hit the $9.99 discount bin at Best Buy. They completely fucked over PC gamers. And anyone with half a brain knows that FPS games were made for PC gaming.
I think The Dark Knight beat it with a little over half a billion dollars... but that took months for it to bring in. Modern Warfare 2 brought in over $300k in the first 24 hours in two countries alone. When it's all said and done, I'm sure it will eclipse it.
Dark Knight had a bigger opening (#1 for movies) than Titantic but it's still #4 in overall. But overall gross for Titantic is up to almost 1.9 billion (whereas dark knight is just barely over 1 billion). DK may beat that over time with DVD/Blu-ray sales and stuff though, since it's only about a year old and Titanic has had plenty of time for everyone and their mom to buy it. Movies tend to get two huge "money waves", one for box office opening and one for home video release. Games just get release day. AFAIK, Guitar Hero 3 was #1 for overall gross in video games, hitting a bit over 1 billion. It'd be interesting to see a game come out on top though.
Broke down and bought a PS3 copy last night. Promptly spent 5.5 hours getting to the Russian prison. After dinner/movie, I came back and spent another 1.5 hours and I'm now at Whiskey Hotel. I'm so looking forward to wasting some more time with it tonight. It is incredibly realistic.
Regular. I don't play video games much and that's where it placed me when I ran the assault course in the beginning.
Definitely! I just opened up the Charlie level and I'm at a wall here. I guess I'll go online or play with my son to get those stars. The stealth mission, the Favela gangs and the bridge were easy enough on veteran levels, but the first one seems impossible to get three stars on.
Finished the game: 9 hours, 5 minutes! Whiskey Hotel was a bitch; I took the opportunity to unload on everyone with the grenade launcher. The ending was classic. Bring on MW3! I played Special Ops last night for a bit. On HARDENED mode where you defend against waves of bad guys with the Predator, I was ONE FRIGGIN' GUY AWAY from finishing the level when I got killed by a grenade.
With a little over a week since it's release, Modern warfare 2 is nominated for Game of the Year (GOTY) by Spike TV. vga.spike.com
Finally completed "Hardened" on Spec Op 'Sniper Fi.' I was absolutely merciless with the Predator. How close was it? I had to use my knife to melee one guy who got on to the roof. All I can say is: thank Bog for Claymore mines...
My favorite class so far has been the M4. I know it's an oldy, but I love it. I've got mine blinged out with a holographic site and a silencer. I back it up with a G18, Semtex, and two stuns. Had a great round a minute ago - 23 kills, 9 deaths.
I use the MP5... and I suck! Sidearm od the PP2200. My best match tonight was 17 kills, 8 deaths. My K is about 0.97. I keep telling myself that the fact that I have a life means I can't do everything well. I have fun playing and I guess that's the point of it.
This is something people who are bad at games tell themselves. Now, THIS on the other hand is a good attitude to have.
*Goes down an alternate route to scout ahead, no enemies whatsoever* *Comes up route as scripted in the game, surrounded by thousands of badguys* *repeat*

I was looking at game reviews this morning and I noticed something interesting about the disparity between user reviews and critic reviews for this game on metacritic:
I just got this game, and am playing through the single player campaign. I got to the "Airport Mission", and I actually got a little physically ill! It was very, very, disturbing.
Yeah as soon as the mission started, I knew that this either had to be the mission that they were talking about, or something unimaginably awful was coming down the pike.
