While Rs try to blame Buttigieg we learn: 1. Trump removed safety standards 2. DeWine ordered the chem cars be burned 3. DeWine declined Fed assistance 4. DeWine said Norfolk Southern CEO “gave him his word” all would be well 5. CEO no-shows at town hall 6. CEO is a DeWine donor https://twitter.com/ronfilipkowski/status/1626175472206839809
Republicans: Where is Pete Buttigieg?!? Ohio Gov. DeWine (R): President Biden called me and said ‘we will give you anything you need.’ I have not called him back. https://twitter.com/grantstern/status/1625884179324932097 Video at link.
“My Fellow American’s I come to you tonight to give you an update on the situation. The response is being run by the Ohio EPA so I don’t know anything about that, you’ll have to ask the Governor. I have offered the Governor anything he needs but he hasn’t called me back so I can’t give you any updates on what we will be providing to help. The NTSB is conducting an investigation but those take about a year so come back to me to then. Thanks. Glad to have fixed the problems. Sorry it took so long, I know this was very important to dozens of you.”
that'd require precognition, non? otherwise it seems to have been well touched on that the NTSB had done what they could and the rest of it is the railroad's responsibility/negligence.
Listen kid. I’m old enough to remember Jade Helm and the frothing mess it turned you people into. Can you imagine the uproar if Biden had sent in FEMA against the wishes of the State Government and in violation of Federal Law*?!?? You morons would be calling for impeachment, insurrection, secession, etc. It would be insane. *42 U.S.C. §§ 5121-5207 (the Stafford Act) §401: All requests for a declaration by the President that a major disaster exists shall be made by the Governor of the affected State.
There has been another train derailment in Michigan, to go along with the one in Texas, and the one in East Palestine, OH. https://www.cbsnews.com/detroit/news/authorities-investigate-train-derailment-in-van-buren-township/ No reports of chemicals being transported, but then we'll have to wait and see because Norfolk Southern lied about non-hazardous materials with the East Palestine crash, too. It's almost like railroad workers had warned NS and the US Dept of Transportation repeatedly that cut corners and lack of adequate safety protocols would lead to this. I live next to 4 sets of train tracks (literally, you can throw a rock from our driveway and hit the track), near a switching station, and one town over from several large chemical plants. I hear trains running through our neighborhood every 20 - 30 minutes, and I can't help but wonder if our little town might get to be in the news.
I thought it was pretty funny, especially the part where she was out on a Valentine’s Day date with her brother.
Sending FEMA was just one suggestion. But I guess it’s just easier to blame the person who’s no longer president and take no action yourself. I bet the Russians were also involved.
Ah, okay. I thought you didn't know it wasn't a legit news site. I've seen satire sites catch even the best ones. Sometimes it just feels way too close to real. The Onion is still the reigning champ there, though.
DeWine is one of those fake middle of the road Republicans who saw what happened after Chris Christie and Obama hugged it out. Interesting that DeWine is forgoing assistance while DeSantis has welcomed the feds with the hurricanes and condo collapse.
Yep. Violating Federal Law and States’ Rights was only one of your genius solutions. The other two being ‘Say something’ and ‘Do something’ which all together is just the perfect FF response. *chefs kiss* Truly 10/10, no suggestions for improvement.
Trump's last day was Jan 6th, 2021. You might remember that day. It's Feb 16th, 2023. You might want to do the math. As to the rest, it's often difficult to fix all the things that the morons break. You know, while we were coming out of covid, having high unemployment, the worst deficit in history, trying to deal with the mess Trump made in Afganistan, and, oh yeah, the attempt to overthrow the government.
People have been told that the water in East Palestine is safe to drink, and I'd like everyone to know that is utter horseshit. They're letting Norfolk Southern guide the narrative. Too many times people have been told something is safe to do, safe to go, safe to live, and time and time again it has been found that the opposite was true. East Palestine's going to see a fuckload of cancer patients in a handful of years, and goddess knows who else upwind and downstream from the town will get the same, and in the end, nothing of consequence will happen to the people responsible. https://www.wlwt.com/article/jd-vance-east-palestine-creek-ohio-video/42942403 Fuck JD Vance, by the way. If this were a Republican president and administration, he'd be all about how clean and safe it is. Still, the water, air, and soil is unsafe for residents, and anyone affected by the spill. A video someone shot in East Palestine showing the contamination of a local stream.
PBS Newshour just ran a story about the spill and talked about some town hall meeting or something. Norfolk Southern didn't attend and released a statement saying that they were concerned about increasing threats against their employees. Ya' think?
why? like seriously... where's the humour in any of it? I mean, I get the point of trying to deflect right wing anti semitism onto a Muslim... that's been in the christian bigotry playbook since forever... I'm just not seeing why it's funny?
Oh good, this should work out well. The poor folks have already had one toxic dump in their town, they don't need another.
This person says that what you’re seeing on the water is most likely a film caused by all the dead fish, not spilled chemicals. https://twitter.com/awesomebiota/status/1626404433432117249?s=46&t=4giSmLrb-0j9NO6Cxciqsg So, not good, but not the worst thing imaginable.
