Quite possibly. Nova could be batshit insane. However none of us are in a position to judge that. It is a medical fact that gender is not the binary pair of options we usually treat it as. One gender can manifest physical traits of the other, genetically things can be confused. If it's possible for gender traits to be expressed incorrectly in the growth of the body, then it's equally possible for mental traits to develop incorrectly as well and I do not see how it can possibly be said to be impossible for someone who is physically one gender to have developed a brain of the opposite gender. So there are two options as I see it. The first is Nova has major mental problems as you say. The second option is that Nova is correct and she is mentally a female, trapped in a physically male body. In either option trolling or abuse is in extremely bad taste, and without having years of medical expertise behind me I think the best option is to treat her as though the latter is the case. Bit of courtesy never a bad thing.
