You seriously think the young, rabid, Christian hating liberals would compliment her for taking a stand?
Do you really want to suggest that somebody standing up for their beliefs is ALWAYS a good thing? Because I can think of plenty of beliefs that would give that position quite a challenge. There seems to be a growing belief that saying "well, that's my opinion!" should render one's position immune to criticism. Arguing that acting on your beliefs is always admirable, even when those beliefs are hateful and bigoted, is similar.
Standing up for your beliefs is good, the beliefs themselves may not always be good. Also, standing up for them obviously has limitations, ie no harming others.
What's to compliment? Do your job or get a new one that supports your values. I like stable work hours, not having to treat a guy like a Greek god for the clothes he wears to work and not spending months,at a time with my coworkers, so I left the Navy rather than be "that guy" that bitches and moans about my job. I respect the clerks that stepped down after the ruling to put God ahead of secular law. Kim Davis is a blatant example of hypocrisy all the while wanting to keep collecting a paycheck for not working. If she were a frycook at McDonald's refusing to make burgers because she was vegan, her ass would be gone.
The whole tree isn't quoted, you're a bit out of context. I was saying they still wouldn't compliment her if she had resigned over her beliefs.
Would you compliment a teacher in Little Rock in 1957 who resigned rather than be forced to have black kids in her class?
Oh, okay. Maybe I don't hang around the right liberals, but all the stories reposted about clerks and judges quitting on my FB feed have been followed with positive comments for their choice to leave. A few have the attitude of "Don't let the door hit you on the way out," and I can't say I disagree, but if people value their beliefs over money, who am I to throw stones? In this economy, they'll be quickly replaced.
See, here's the thing. You deal with blanket statements, which is a way of telling the rest of us that you're an idiot. I have no doubt some would respond that way. But most would either ignore her, or say they were glad she took the right path for expressing her view. No matter how much you might find it convenient to think so, liberals and atheists are not some monolithic block of group think.
True, although I think it's safe to say that most would not run out and form the Kim Davis Admiration Society, either. Sure, in an odd sort of way, you can respect a fucktard for choosing a slightly less fucktarded way of expressing their fucktardedness ... but at the end of the day, they're still a fucktard.
@Archangel is more concerned with the fringe libs who are tiny in their numbers and have no say in anything or power over anyone for some reason.
Except they have power because business's are so terrified of looking bigoted they often bow down to those lunatic fringes.
You mean the bakery that flat out said "we don't bake for gheys"? What a maroon. West Coast bigots have intelligence enough to say they're completely booked that week or that the job is taken, even when it was posted to Craigslist two hours ago.
http://www.joemygod.com/2015/09/03/breaking-kim-davis-to-remain-in-jail/ Davis's only goal in this is to be a martyr. The plaintiffs proposed that the judge release her from prison since the deputy clerks were willing to comply with the court order. The judge offered to set her free if she'd agree not to interfere with her deputy clerks. Her lawyers refused on her behalf.
That means she wins. If her clerks issue marriage licenses to the handful of gay applicants in Rowan County, then she gets out of jail - and can continue not issuing marriage licenses to gays until some new Rowan County couple starts the whole thing over again.
Someone started a Twitter account claiming to be the person who sits next to Kim Davis. It's pretty funny. http://www.shewired.com/entertainme...eets-person-who-allegedly-sits-next-kim-davis
