Went up to the National Mall today for a New Year stroll. This here is the Smithsonian Castle with Capitol Hill in the background.

It was getting late, it was New Year’s Day, and it was kind of chilly out.

First model of the year. I've been trying to figure out how to take the Pegasus model of the Space Ark and make the crash-landing scene. Ended up using styrofoam for the base and railroad dirt mixed with Elmer's glue for the snow mounds.

Me and my sister on a boat for some reason, circa 1960. My shades may be bad-looking, but my sister wished she had them!

"some reason" being recon for the Bay Of Pigs invasion? What's up with the sinister guy wearing a tie? Do you have something to share with us Forbin? :chris: If that's even your real name. :brood:

The film When Worlds Collide has one of my all-time favorite movie moments in it.

After the human "ark" crashes on the surface of Zyra, Randall goes to open the door of the spacecraft. Someone yells out a concern that the atmosphere hasn't been tested and may not be breathable, and Randall basically shrugs it off, essentially saying "It better be, because where the f**k else you gonna go?"

Some pix I had at work.
Me getting one of my few awards in 1990. My boss on the right, his boss on the left.

Around the same time, in the years before HR would have hung him up by the balls for it, here's the department head gathering his "Angels" for some occasion or other:

Yes, he is holding a hamster. This is a dungeons and dragons miniature of the characters Minsc (the human) and Boo (the hamster) from the dungeons and dragons PC game Baldur's Gate 2. It's quite a fun game, and I recommend playing it.

Edit: Here's the latest Space Marine I've painted

That's me with the ball! I'm guessing this is 1963. mom and Dad with their backs to the camera, the others are cousins.

Got the dope on the pictures from cousin Don (the guy in the pix) - these were taken the day he gave Dad the Studebaker, after Don had bought a new 1963 Comet. The Studebaker was "Campbell's soup can red"

2nd model of the year - a B-Wing in markings I came up with to evoke Dad's fighter squadron colors from WWII:

    bwing-bandai-001.jpg bwing-bandai-003.jpg bwing-bandai-014.jpg

I hand-drew the snake art, traced it in Corel, and printed it on clear inkjet decal film.
