that buck came all the way from Ohio - it has the letter O under it's tail! That said you can't see his antlers too good in the daylight picture, but it's a small young spike like the one in the night time pic, and you can see the antlers start to curve forward about three inches from the tip in the daytime pic. If you look real closely you can see that it's most likely the same young buck. In about two months he'll be making babies hopefully!
More polite deer, posing as lawn ornaments across the street... And joining us for a sit in the back yard (with social distancing).
I tried to get it tonight but they're farther apart and almost straight overhead by the time they clear the trees around my house.
a little off-topic but the moon pics reminded me: I heard on the radio the other day that if we didn't have the moon, earth would have a six hour rotation instead of our current twenty-four hour rotation.
The moon also stabilizes Earth’ axial tilt, keeping it around 28 degrees instead of wobbling all over the place.
That is the Moon and Mars, and about 90 degrees to the right you can see Jupiter and Saturn. Not in the picture, but if you're out looking.
This guy-or-gal has been hanging around for a while, but finally decided to visit our back yard. Here he/she is eating the neighbor's garbage after knocking their can over 20 feet from where I was sitting.
The neighborhood Bear Militia activated, and two guys and a kid chased the bear away with a leaf blower and fire crackers.
that bear certainly has some healthy, lustrous fur! Sometimes bears are mangy looking. That said if I were you I would treat all my "work in the yard" clothes with permethrin because the odds of you getting ticks from all the critters is very high! Many NJ ticks carry Lyme disease and other diseases too.
Latest model: Junkers Ef-126, proposed Luftwaffe fighter. Twin pulse-jet version on launch trolly. 1/32 scale kit by Das Werk. Spares-box decals, Eduard seatbelts. The color scheme reflects the Luftwaffe's late war practice of decentralized manufacturing, with different sections built in different locations, thus the camouflage colors don't always match between subassemblies. Pilot figure is an ICM kit Landed, with the trolley and boosters shed Das bottom. Weapons are a pair of 30mm cannon in the nose, and 24 unguided R4M folding-fin rockets under das wings.
SWEEEEEEEEET! The Germans had some great aircraft designs that never got to see the light of day for too long. BTW does the pilot have a "dueling scar"? Because that would be awesome!
Awesome pics! You're a regular Marlin Perkins! That said the buck with the antler broken off must have been in some serious pain when that happened. I recognize the buck on the left from your other pics of him.
Does this damn buck KNOW he's on camera?? I've got closeups of his balls, his sphincter, and now he pees for the camera.
