Just got home and found that in my absence I have gotten more than ten requests for another Rep vote. This time there will be three options: NuRep - The current system. Comments Only - Pointless Rep System No Rep- We remove the system entirely Again, this poll is deciding the policy of the Rep System as it goes forward from here.
The only difference between nuRep and Comments Only is that nuRep continues to give everyone lots of green pips. Over time everyone will have solid green pips regardless, so it's a ridiculous system. If we're not going to go back to a true reputation system, then I'd prefer we just allow people to make quick comments on a post without it adding more pointless green pips. Don't abolish the whole system because at times it's easier to post a quick comment directly on a post than to quote it and create a whole new post just to say you agree with someone.
Why is the old system not an option? I sort of feel like you're telling me I can have my model T in whatever color I want, as long as it is black. FYI, I was always in the red with the old system, so it's not like I'm doing this for "the glory years."
Fucking ridiculous. You guys keep shitting out these idiotic variations of rep options on the fly, slamming them into new polls but nobody wants to run the option of returning to old rep on the same playing field? Uh huh... that isn't skewed at all, is it? Does anyone here know anything at all about statistics?
Agrees and disagrees are too useful to go to a comments-only system, and no, we can't keep them while going to a point-less system.
I'd have thought you of all people would want this version of the poll. Having the old system and NuRep on the poll would almost certainly split the points-based rep supporters leading to a comments-only or No rep victory. Edit: which is a good argument for putting all the options in a multiple-choice (approval voting) poll. Edit 2: the more I think about it, the more I think this is exactly what should be done. The poll options would be any (technically doable) variety of suggestion, people can vote for any number, most popular choice gets implemented.
We should totally do a poll about whether we'd like to be punched in the face, punched in the stomach, or kicked in the nuts.
I agree that an Old Rep option should've been tabled. The other rep poll didn't have that option either.
Here's what I would do: bring back the old rep system and simply require that if you neg a post, you have to write something in the rep comment. Even if it's just "I disagree!" or "Stop being a dickhead!" Then you can throw in 20 or 30 oreo cookie smilies.
Uh, no, to both of you. Sokar's actually making sense from his own degenerate point of view. The people who want old rep really, really want old rep, while the people who realize old-rep was a broken trolling device are largely indifferent to the alternatives or have only mild preferences. I don't know if anyone really cares about the difference between maintaining rep as is and making it a purely comment system with no points; having both those options in a poll is how you split votes. Throw in enough alternatives and old-rep will win a plurality in the poll easily even though old rep couldn't possibly win a heads-up poll against any of them at this point. A poll with lots of options including "bring back old rep" would at this point be a clear effort to provide cover for the unpopular option of bringing back old rep.
So the usual suspects lose their rep toy after being outvoting.....yet stil whine about it. Still, hardly surprising in view of how they still can't acknowledge that Mr. Ineffective got elected to the White Hourse - twice. Still, it follows that bigots also have no sense of democracy.
