Couple pics of the bloke Dan says is fat. One is my Facebook profile pic, taken at a wedding in Ireland after cutting some moves on the dance floor and killing some small children in the process, along with several pints of guiness, hence the red face. Other one was at another wedding, this time in Germany.
Really, where did you get that impression, i smoke like a chimney... ...One thats on fire Ever read the first Dirk Gently book?, thats how i get up in the morning
It's a bass, but I had caught it an hour prior, so it pretty much lost it's color. In Dan's defense they don't have bass in Europe, except a few rivers and lakes in Italy have been stocked. The fish was seven pounds on the nose. I caught another seven pounder later in the year. I took the pic at my bud's house - a little fancier area than my subdivision. I was borrowing his freezer because I had recently gone shopping and that bass was not going to fit in my freezer. I grilled it, so I couldn't filet it.....only gut and scale it.
Yep, ive never seen a bass here before. The only thing apart from salmon that you would catch in british fresh waters that gets up to that size is carp. I dont think trout here get that big. But to be fair carp have smaller, sharper faces.... i shoulda known. Then again i havnt been fishing since i was about 14
You guys have big pike! Pike are all over Asia/Europe/much of America. It's the same species (rare for the exact same fish species to be spread that far). For some reason pike grow much larger in Europe than in America. I suspect there are more rough fish (carp family) to eat. Rough fish have soft fins (and are easier to catch and swallow and are prefered over spiny finned perch, for example. Same reason all the record bass come from California. They don't expend much energy eating stocked rainbow trout in the huge reservoires, so they really pack on the weight.
That is true, we do have carp here, and big ones. But ive never heard of anyone going out to catch them, and i have a few friends who are obsessed by fishing
