I've had guns pointed at me. I just looked them in the eye.

I've never seen or been near a drive by shooting. Most shooters don't just drive around with the barrel of a gun sticking out of their car window. It would seem odd to me. If I'm able to see the passengers I would have to make a determination from that.

I mean that I exercise until I am completely exhausted and there is no fight left in me.

3-4 times a week I hit the weights and rotate through a few different small circuit strength routines that don't allow for much rest. Usually about an hour with that, and if I'm still feeling froggy I'll pile an hour on the cardio machines on top of it. On the off days I'll just hit the cardio machines.

Other days I'll go work out with the group that does MMA training in my friend's basement. Hit the bags, do some pad drills, maybe humiliate myself with some sparring.

In the summer, I run stairs. That's actually the most efficient at kicking my ass and leaving me docile.

If you want logical reaction that is one thing, if you are asking what would happen in an instinctual life or death situation that is another.

My sitting at my desk pondering the situation thought process leads me to think of other circumstances of the scenario, how to best regard them logically and react to them rationally. You laid it out as though I am on the sidewalk, armed and aware that a vehicle is coming up with a window down and what appears to be a shotgun barrel sticking out of it. Now that may be your first jump in logic, but mine doesn't automatically jump to gun barrels when what appears to be a bit of pipe is sticking out the window.

I'd carry on and get hit with a paintball. Ouch, no big deal.

They are firing as they are moving down the street- I can tell the difference between the noise of a real gun and a paintball gun, try to duck or dodge and carry on.

They are driving, stop beside me and tell me they are going to kill me. Now despite being armed, they are next to me, there really isn't anything I can do. If they attempted to rob me and rolled down a window, in particular the one the gun barrel is sticking out of, I point out my gun (my real gun) and hope that the insinuation of violence or reciprocation is enough to move them on their way.

There aren't any scenarios in this case where, if I had a moment to think, that I would resort to drawing and firing. There are other factors that would prevent me from doing so- neighborhood, speed of vehicle, pedestrian density- if I couldn't assume beyond a shadow of a doubt that my actions wouldn't hurt anyone other than the intended target I would never fire.

You might say pussy or idiot, but I'd say calm and rational.

I wouldn't say anything of the kind. What you do in regards to self defense is a personal decision, one that I respect everyone's right to make. You live not only with what you do immediately, but long term.

Agreed. It's my belief that in many cases, such as when you're in public, it's the duty of the responsible gun owner to deescalate, defuse, and evade if possible. I like having the law written the way it is, saying you don't have to do so, because sometimes you can't, say your family is with you.

We must be polite and unaggresive because if you do lose your cool and fire into a vehicle as described in the first post, even if you don't hit anyone, you're looking at 99 years in a dirty Pound-Me-In-The-Ass Prison. If you do kill someone, you're going to ride the lightening.
